I noticed one of the reverse lights in the back of my car had burned out, so since I was in the area, I stopped by my local MINI dealer and asked for a pair of bulbs (I would replace both). I confirmed that they were for the reverse lights in the back. So (new) parts guy went and got them. I reminded him that I usually get a discount here because my car is over 10 years old and the manager usually gives me a discount. Parts guy told me the discount was applied. I was suspicious since they came to $27 taxes included. When I got home, I opened up the back and pulled out the bulbs and noted that they were the wrong bulbs. I guess I'll keep them, since they are the bulbs for the tail lights. So I got in my other car and drove to Lordco, looked up the bulbs and bought a pair. Total came to $2.50 (taxes included). The other tail light bulbs were $8 each before taxes so the dealer price was not discounted. There is a reason dealers are often referred to as stealerships and it appears my local MINI dealer has adapted to match that reputation.
I got Checkers back. All good and they found the screwdriver I lost when I replaced the CAI hose. I hate it when I loose something and can't find it. Oh I don't feel bad about the boots they said it took the mechanic almost an hour to install them. Next on the 12th it go's to the detailer for a wash and engine detail. I 'm just wondering if they can do a better job they me. Besides I'm getting to old to be bent over to long. By the way gas here just went to $6.61 for premium.
I hate it when a tool just decides to disappear when you’re doing a job so it’s great that the automotive shop corralled the MIA screwdriver. I’m guessing the detailers won’t do a better job than you although it will be easier on your back but a little harder on your wallet. Wowzer after reading your premium gas price I just looked up the station where I usually buy top tier premium and it was $4.04 a gallon.
I’ve been thinking about getting a scissors lift so I don’t have be all hunched over when working on a car.
Took a MINI ride out in the country today with my wife.... The town we visited had a street fair in progress... Lots of Fair food if that's your thing....
Beautiful day for a drive in northeast Ohio along with watching our youngest football playing grandson play.
Yesterday I did my 5K oil and filter change, after a 4 hour drive with Techron.... The MINI is running great...
Checked the fluids in GIR yesterday and just happened to notice a torn boot on the steering rack. Ordered the parts, hoping I dont have to drop the whole front end to replace it.
I was going through my repair orders today just to see what and when I had work done. In Dec. 2007 with 23k miles on it I had my engine blow up. I had done to many mods with out a tune. that's a little back ground for what next. I added up my receipts and came up with 55k. for all the things I have had done. Don't tell my wife.
Hay Chuck! whats this we.... I see a little blackmail money potential here. Ok @checkers just kidding, we have your back.
Nice try. She already knows. I wouldn't even try to slide that past her. Besides the one time she took the car is when it blow up. She hasn't driven it since.
Took a nice MINI trip over to Hocking Hills State park... Celebrated my wife's birthday with lunch at the new lodge... Great day to be alive and out in the MINI with my wife...
I put the winter tires and wheels on the Countryman today. Also topped up the washer fluid and put the winter (rubber) floor mats back in the car. As of October 1, winter tires are mandatory for driving in the British Columbia outside of the Vancouver BC area. It's Ice wine grape harvesting season soon, so I will probably be making a trip to the Okanagan region for some new wine in the next week or so.
