I finally did something with GIR this weekend, mostly TLC type stuff. Saturday replaced the bellow on the steering rack and while it was up on blocks I changed the oil and filter. Sunday he got a wash and I worked on the paint some. Hopfully finish that up in the next day or two.
Welp I finally got around to doing plugs & coil packs on Skooby. Everything went well right up to the time I opened the last coil pack. Broken connector arg!!!! Have to box it up & ship it back & they will send me another. Oh joy....
My luck would’ve been they just sent out the last one in stock and would not have any in for a month.
threw a battery tender charger on my MINI last night because it has been sitting in a remote garage for 3 weeks. I have been working on reviving a motorcycle that has been off the road for many years and need the space to move around.. Hope to get the MINI back home soon.
It is a modified 1987 BMW K75s It is from a family friend who passed away a couple years ago. He had 2 bikes that were offered to me.. I took the 74 BMW R60/6 which I remember from when he got it new, and I made it into my only (and probably final) bike. This one has been sitting for many years, but it was put away pretty well.. It has lots of hop-up parts and was converted from fuel injection to carburetors. I've done a bunch of cleanup from storage, replaced oil, coolant, brake fluid, battery and got it started and running. Took it for a couple short test drives and it feels really strong. Working on tires now, and just found a small leak in the front brake master cylinder and it needs a new brake light switch.. then it will be going up for sale by the family.
The 2012 Clubman went into 1/2 engine mode yesterday and was running crappy... Off to my local repair shop, and they replaced a couple ignition coils. They also fixed a recurring problem of a damaged temperature sensor wire. New wiring was rerouted higher up under the front bumper. The car feels back to it's normal peppy self, or maybe it feels faster because my wallet is so much lighter than before ;-)
I know what you are talking about. Checkers is back at the shop. I found an oil leak at number three spark tube. A couple of weeks a go I had the value cover replaced with an aftermarket one, but it is leaking so today I ordered a OEM one two day air.. The shop I deal with is ok, but they work on most European cars. I found a shop that's about 70 miles away and is owned by the mechanic that rebuilt my engine back in 2008 and did a real good job. They work on BMW's and Minis street and track cars. I'll be using them from now on.
I must be getting over the hill. I was looking back at some pictures of AMVIV on the NAM site from 2006 to 2010. That's when I was there. It was a lot of fun. Now a days there are nothing like it. I belong to several clubs that have runs on some pretty good roads but it's not the same thing. I really miss that time. I went to mini west this year and it was good ,but not the same.
I was checking out a shop I use to use. The last I heard it was closed. I found out they moved to a other city. It looks like I'll be going back. The owner is kind of an old friend that did a lot of work for me in the past. They offer a 4 year 50k warranty on parts a labor and a loaner car if I need it. It's almost sounds to good. All I have to worry about is the labor rate.
One of the Chicagoland dealerships had a Grand Opening event to celebrate their remodeled showroom last night. Chicago MINI Motoring Club members got VIP parking in the front. They threw quite a party!! A band, food trucks in the shop area, an artist painting MINI themed paintings, a green-screen MINI photo area, beer, wine and cocktails. Fun time visiting with MINI friends! Here is a link to more pictures from the evening https://www.flickr.com/photos/ernestovumbles/albums/72177720312559992
Thanks.. That is my Cooper! I've always been partial to the looks of my friend's White/Red Coupe, but I do need the extra back seats.
