Quick lunchtime wash/wax for the Clubman.. This gets the least love of my toys and really needed a cleaning . The MINI logo fell off, so I temporarily fixed it..
That badge fell off of Skooby. Been a year and I haven't got around to fixing it. Not sure Lady Babs has noticed yet.
Started up Checker's today. It's been about 30 days since the last time. I wish it would get warmer so I could go for a drive.
If’n there’s no snow, ice, or salt on the roads its driving season here in northeast Ohio. I’ve been out for few drives lately as the temps have been upper 30’s and 40’s which make for nice driving in February.
The Clubman gets new rear brakes and rotors, and unfortunately a new rear caliper.. the other side caliper stuck and was replaced 4 years ago.
Today was a Chicago MINI Motoring Club event.. Slot car racing. We had 9 racers and several spectators for a fun morning Here is a link to more pictures https://www.flickr.com/photos/ernestovumbles/albums/72177720314696687/
2009 R55 JCW Slow leak of coolant onto the back half of the transmission housing. About 1-2 oz per day (20 miles). Took the 2 intake hoses off to see the thermostat and hoses better, pumped a pressure tester up to 20 psi and still couldn’t identify a source, although the crossover water pipe is a little wet next to the thermostat. The hoses on the thermostat, radiator, oil filter/cooler housing, etc. and water pump all look dry and fine. Ordered the ECS upgraded metal crossover pipe (WHY is the oem part plastic!!), and the 2 gaskets, but I really don’t feel like tearing down and replacing that myself, especially since I’m not certain that’s the definite source, so will have my MINI friendly shop do it in a week or two.
Looks fun! I have always wanted to get into the big 1/32 - 1/24 scale slots. I have picked up a few vintage (60's) hard bodies over the years, just never been close to any set up like this.
Please post up your experience / review with the metal cross over pipe... I've been eyeing that piece for a while...
In addition to the coolant leak, also going to get the timing chain and guides done. Only 61k miles but it’s 14 1/2 years old and never been replaced.
Not mini. I took the Lotus to do errands. I stoped at the parts store and got some of Jay Leno’s Radiant Ceramic Coating. I know it’s not as good as the stuff from exoteric but I thought I would give it a try on my X1/9. The previous owner had it painted. It looks great but it was a cheep job, I can tell the paint is very thin. Because of this I am not about to try using my buffer on it. So I thought I would give Jay a shot. It turned out nice I think.
