Looks good! You might try measuring the paint thickness. There is a tool for that although it is rather spendy. Unless there is a real issue I wouldn't use a polisher on it either.
There are two places on the pant down low where you can almost see a little bondo. It’s very thin. Maybe one day I will have it resprayed but for now it looks good. Besides after all I had to do to the Lotus my wife has advised me I will not touch this car, no modes. I have tried to reason with her that duel Webers are better than FI but she just threatens to take all my tools away from me. I am a little afraid of her!
I washed Skooby the clubster yesterday. It was a real salt ball and truly need it. So today it rains. No worries I hid the keys so Lady Babs can't go out and find a dirt road to drive on.
Was able to get out for a drive yesterday in the sunny spring like weather but the MINI could use a good inside out cleaning.
Over the weekend I finally had some time to install those F56 seats in GIR. Still need figure out the heated seat wiring , I think I almost have it. Air bags not really all that worried about. I do like the way they look, IMO more comfortable than the original ones. They do sit tad higher because they are on seat mounts . Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Got my mini back from coolant leak repair ($) (water pump, crossover pipe, and thermostat gasket replaced) and timing chain and guide replacement ($$$) (was doing ok but was 15.5 yrs old). They put down on the invoice that my oil level was very low but I know it wasn’t since I checked it just before it went in and it usually takes about 1500 miles to consume 1 quart. All set for lots more miles and smiles.
Thought about washing and cleaning the interior today but it has rained on and off with some serious gust of wind so I’ll just wait for a better day. Was able to get new tires for my pick up truck so the day wasn’t a total bust.
Cleaned the interior of my MINI and just as I finished, my very muddy labrador retriever jumped into the driver's seat, climbed across to the passenger side, sat down and looked at me, asking for a ride. He didn't get one!
Okay, so he made a mistake and wanted to drive … he moved over to the passenger seat and if you would have gotten in he would have buckled up.
Passed another emissions test.. The guy had a hard time finding the OBDII port. The rules in Illinois used to be they would only test for 20 years, but they have now changed the rules to test for the life of the car.
I have to go this year also but at the moment we are required to do it every other year for 25 years.
Living in California we go every 2 years. It's a pain. Mainly because all the mods have to be EAP approved. The shop I use to use it was not a problem , but the last time at a new shop they went over it top and bottom. They even put it on a rack to check under it. I had to change the header. The part that bugs me is it always passes the tail pipe test but not the visual test. I don't understand if it passes the tail pipe test who cares what it looks like.
