Was out and about today and the brake service indicator lit on the tachy o meter..... Placed an order for EBC "Red Stuff" brake pads... Fronts and rears... These pads come highly recommended by David.0, who was seen coming in hot, from a trip down through Deals Gap, with smoking discs, finally cooling off in the parking lot at Fontana Village....
The shop did a fantastic job. I’m going to do the top surface of the front bumper myself later. The whole rest of the (2009) MINI’s paint is still in great shape.
Added a little extra horsepower.. I've been to parts of all of the MTTS events.. All in the same MINI
You know you're getting old when you go back on mini websites and look up old events. I kinda miss those days. I go to a few car shows each year, but there doesn't seem to be very many two or three day events anymore. At least not where I live.. Looking at the event pictures brings back some great memories.
This morning the MINI got some maintenance work done... Cleared out the "Red Brake" idiot light in the takie-o-meter... Replace the front brakes (RedStuff), rears still had plenty of stoppage left.. Did a brake flush and rotated the tires (front to back then back to front).... No criss crossin... Used my pressure pot brake flusher... No need for another body to pump the brakes... Worked great... The brake wear sensor is a bit premature... There's probably another 5,000 miles on the pads...
Yesterday was a Chicago MINI Club event.. a drive from one of the dealerships to a forest preserves/bog (with a 1/2 mile long floating walkway thru the bog area).. We had a few periods of brief showers on the ride, but it was nice when we got there. Unfortunately I developed a bad wheel bearing on the way, which will need to be fixed soon. Better now than on MINI Takes the States trip last month. Here is a link to more pictures https://www.flickr.com/photos/ernestovumbles/albums/72177720319607238
You’re absolutely correct in being relieved that having the wheel bearing going bad at home is a whole lot better than on your MTTS trip. As always your photos were great.
Sounds like a great day! Well except the baring. At least now you can get the complete hub so you don’t have to press them in and out
Wheel bearing is all fixed now.. The car is much quieter at 45mph and above, and perhaps a little bit faster due to my wallet being lighter.
Got a recall notice for my sweetie's MINI yesterday. Sounds like the sunroof drains could leak and cause corrosion in an electrizicle thingy-bob. May cause a thermal event. Seems the fix is in, they will do a colonoscopy on the sunroof drain and look at the electrizicle part to see if it is corroded enough for replacement.
