Thanks my wife’s mom has one I don’t remember the year. I’ll have to check and see if it is covered too.
Having fun touching up the top surface of my front bumper. Prep (including spot priming) takes 10 x longer than the actual spraying with color and clear coat.
In retrospect, I should have take the new paint down a few inches further to the seam halfway down the bumper, but hey, it’s a 2009 MINI, let’s not split hairs (or hares — I did own a VW Rabbit S from 1982 - 2003).
Yeah, fancy new money from a foreign country, not the boring looking black/green on white linen stuff we have here.
I took my MINI into my local MINI dealer for windshield replacement. This will be windshield #8. It is covered by insurance. When booked the appointment last week, the coolant expansion tank was leaking. This is my 3rd expansion tank. I noted that the aftermarket one lasted the shortest time, so I got the dealer to put a new MINI branded one in with this appointment. Dealer called and said I needed a new radiator. I feel the "leak" was spray from the coolant tank. But my car is 20 years old, and only the 2nd radiator. So since the dealer was giving me a pretty good price on the radiator, I might as well have it replaced too. It won't be done until Monday. So I get a 2024 MINI Cooper as a courtesy car for the weekend.
The Pacific Northwest MINIacs, Vancouver MINI Cooper Club, and Vancouver Mini Club met up in Point Roberts WA, and went for a drive. We spent some time at the Rubber Duck Museum.
Last night was our annual club drive to Superdawg.. a local iconic hot dog place.. We had about 35 MINIs attending plus several former club members coming in non MINIs to visit and hang out. We had a couple classic Minis join in as well. We head thru a village with about 25 cul-de-sacs and loop thru the streets crossing and waiving to each other as we pass. The local residents also come out to see and video us passing thru. Here is a link to more pictures https://www.flickr.com/photos/ernestovumbles/albums/72177720320163388
Got Checkers out of storage to start getting ready for the next show. It's not until Oct 20th but I'm old and slow.
One of the Chicagoland dealerships hosted a morning Cars & Coffee event.. they carry several brands besides MINI, but we got our own mostly dedicated parking area.. We had a pretty good showing of Chicago MINI Motoring club members, plus a few non-members. Tasty coffee and Mini donuts. Not a huge crowd, but a fun variety of interesting cars. I had to work today so only stayed there for a short bit and got back to my day job.. Here is a link to a few more pictures https://www.flickr.com/photos/ernestovumbles/albums/72177720320324762
We have a dealer that is going to sponsor a night at the drive in to show The Italian Job. They will take 170 cars.
