Should rub right out with a little elbow grease !! Luckily your son is okay and just some minor damage to the car.
After seeing your photos I looked up the Leap diffuser and watched a Tweedbean video of him installing one. They look very sharp….pricey…but sharp nonetheless.
Dam I hate it when things like that happen but at least he’s safe! Well yesterday was a 3 hour ride to mini dealership in Pensacola Fla because there is no more mini dealership in Louisiana (sad) but it was a fun ride and they finally have the fix for the footwell module recall and at same time they will see about my radio issues with no FM or my satellite not working? And then when I left my cigarette lighter in middle stopped? That where my GPS is plugged into… and get this each diagnostic charge is separate lol $190 for each lol! I also got there for 9am and they didn’t start on it until 3pm and I had to leave it there and get a rental car $98 for the 3 hr ride home and it should be ready by Wednesday hopefully! Then rent another car $98 to go 3 hrs to pick it up lol!
Hope the dealership provides you with a first class experience for all your troubles after getting off to a rocky start.
Price was an issue. I had purchased a used bumper skin to attempt to make my own. I just think I was going to get the visual appearance like the Leaf. Tweedbean's video sold me on the diffuser. I didnt keep the GP trim like he did, look unfinished. I used stock trim that left a gap (left) but with a little heat (right) I got them to sit flush. IMO the mounts could be moved towards the rear allowing a tighter fit against the bumper skin. Over all I am happy with the out come. Trying to decide what to do next, a Coolerworx shortshifter or a splitter.
Yipes.. that is terrifying. Glad your son is ok and hope the MINI isnt too bent up.. Doesnt look horrible from the pics.
Dont usually track mileage milestones, but thought this was cool. Trip odometer is off a mile from perfect, but was totally unintentional. I only use it to track miles per tank of gas.
Coolerworx shifter, from what I have read, would make missing a shift a distant memory but you have to carve up your console and they are a bit on the ugly side. The splitter would go nicely with the diffuser.
Does your Mini have any mods that affect the wiring? Like an alarm system? those will cause havoc on a mini electric system. I now believe Cobra alarms are made in hell by the devil himself! The FM and Sat radio must be an antenna problem. I don't know about the Gen 2 minis but the Gen 1 had a box the antenna went through. If it went bad, no signal. At $190 per each diagnostic I hope they do you right!
Update on the Helmet. My son called today. He said that he found the left front wheel was lose causing the steering problem after the accident, all the lug nuts were a little loose. He said it is driving fine now. The car will be coming home and he plans to buy a truck. For now that will be more practical.
Good news !! Now you can move that red Italian car out of the garage to make a spot for Helmet and since your watch cat is familiar with that car there won’t be any problems.
Red car and Lotus have hunkered down in the grange for the winter. I am rebuilding the carb over the winter on the red car. So fun
Maybe. After changing the oil it is much better. I am going to try and adjust it and replace a bushing. Cross my fingers that fixes it. Right now if I take it above 5K RPM it grinds a little going into 3rd. Below that it is fine.
No it’s nothing like that but next time I’ll fix myself I’m picking it up on Friday $1800 for the cost. The recall was free. They said the module was fine no corrosion but they did find my fuse box on passenger side. My cigarette lighter has no power. The fuse was fine, but it has no power behind the block so they have to replace it between the diagnostics and the cost of the part and have it put in. It was 1800 total for everything then they proceeded to recommend I change my door seals because I had some moisture. I usually keep it covered all the time anyway and then I never saw moisture. I asked him how much that was and it was $1900 to change door seals out I said no that’s OK as far as my Radio issue goes they don’t have a fixed for it because there’s no replacement part. It’s no longer available. I did have a whole new head but they told me that was just a player They don’t know it’s the radio lol so I’ll try to work on that myself too these dealerships crack me up, especially the service guys. They work on mini’s all day long and they don’t know the half of it lol on 12/31/24 I traded my Red Car the veloster Hyundai 2013 for brand new 2024 Nissan Kicks SR fully loaded thing has cameras all the way around didn’t really need another vehicle cause I have four but I couldn’t pass up the deal and it was time to get a good deal on my veloster for a trade.
Bummer that your dealership experience didn’t improve from its shaky start. Good luck on correcting your radio problems.
So update the radio is a no go but later this summer I’ll try to tackle it myself as I’m mechanically inclined and know a thing or two about R56’s and my total was $1900 and I did ask for the old fuse block to make sure I didn’t get taken for a ride so my total was $2500 total after two rentals and 4 Ubers and I think I need tune again which I’m not worried about I know I’ll never go back because it wasn’t a pleasant experience.
Have you tried Have you tried ALLMAG ? They have great OEM parts reasonably priced mostly all mini cooper
Wowzer !! Heck of a tab when you were timely and they weren’t….and dealers like that wonder why people do not want to do repeat business with them.
