Today was part 3 of Clubman maintenance.. I replaced the rear swaybar bushings and end links. It was a bunch of work because the bushings bolts are hard to get to and hard to line up afterwards. The end links werent too bad, but I needed a super skinny wrench (which I fortunately had) to keep the part from spinning as I was loosening and tightening the nuts Hopefully that is the end of the maintenance till winter when I need to replace the aged-out snow tires.
Will you need bigger fuel injectors for the bigger turbo? I don’t remember what size injectors the R57 has.
? I didn’t go with the Borg I went with another and the boost will be 30% more than stock and I’m chipped and tuned already for this plug and play…
Today was a Chicago MINI Motoring Club drive up Sheridan Road, which is a nice twisty (for Chicagoland) road along Lake Michigan and past some of the most expensive houses in the area. We had about 22 cars participating.. a large pothole damaged one participants tire on the way to the event and bent a rim of another participant (but it still held air pressure) Because we started at one of the local dealerships, they were able to get him a new tire and he was able to meet us at our final lunch stop. That must have been one nasty pothole. Looked like a nice group gathering and drive … and as always great photos of the event.
I was checking on the wife's car for when the next maintenance is due. It shows that the last maintenance was done some 600 days ago her little more than that I guess. Anyway so I pulled the records and find out the last maintenance was done April 22, 2022. During that time till now we put 350 miles on the car. I know that Mercedes has scheduled maintenance on time and not necessarily miles but with only 350 miles on the last service I don't think I would have it done yet.
I had the windshield replaced, painted the mismatched rim and put the black out belt liner back on. Also today I ordered some Dr color Match and a new JCW grill badge. It should be up for sale soon.
Road trip to Iowa to help my son and his fiance move to a new home No matter how long the trip, we always seem to fill the car up.. Luggage for 3 people for the weekend plus extra packing boxes, chairs and a load of styrofoam to go to the recycle center on the way. Sunset over the I-80 worlds largest truck stop
So been doing rear brakes all weekend because waiting on new parts had a frozen piston on rear passenger side for I don’t know how long lol! Should be done Monday because tomorrow is a rest! Lol
Replaced front pads with same G-loc GS-1 ones yesterday. The rear ones still have quite a bit of life left. Didn’t replace the rotors this time as they measured 21.6 mm. The Zimmerman (not slotted, not drilled) rotors and the GS-1 pads make for pretty low rotor wear, and the surfaces had minimal grooving. The stock rotors with the stock pads eat up the rotors much faster and don’t last for 2 sets of pads.
Ahhh today’s venture led to a bent rim due to Damm Pot Hole! Then a purchase of a single rim for $390… it’s only money says the mini owner
