Made an appointment with Best Motor Werks. I had a right side CV boot explode. Dern it all...

Drove in the rain last night, it's been quite some time since I drove the MINI in the wet.

It was more of a dance than a drive the way the MINI shimmied and slid.

New tires are in the plans before fall...

Be careful.... I had a friend who wanted to save money by not buying tires when he needed them. Instead of tires he got to buy a new car. :frown2:

With the lack of rain we have had the roads were especially slick with all the oil on the roads.

Yep, that rain is here now, but we sure need it. I hate driving in it because I can't see the lines very well. That becomes a problem in construction area where they divert the lanes to who knows where.

Drove an animal transport run with a 133lb bullmastiff in the backseat. lol! He was rather comfortable laying down, but nothing else was going to fit in! Getting him in required us to put the top down though.

I had a feeling that if I couldn't get them on the car without swearing and busting up my knuckles, that I'd be mangling them every time I needed to remove the IC. Or puncturing them with the hook. Or just stabbing them out of spite... :mad5:

They lost the ability to seal. Didn't take long either, maybe 15K miles.

I was worried about that once I took them out of the box since the silicone is so stiff. :(

LOL.....and I haven't had an issue with mine since installing them almost 6 yrs ago!

The trick to putting them on is to let them soak in a hot-ish glass of water to soften them up and to loosen all 4 mounts on the IC. Makes the install a lot easier.

    4 mounts?

Are you talking about the clamps? Was I not supposed to take those off?

Nope, the bolts holding the IC to the block. If you loosen them up it allows the IC to move around a bit and it makes the boots easier to get on. I also use a bit of spray on silicone to "grease" them up.

Pulled all four wheels, had the ballance checked and re-did 2 of them. Rotated them and took it out for a test drive. Invited the tire guy if he wanted to go. He wanted so out we went to a nearby crooked county road. He muttered something on the first curve but I was too busy to listen.
