HAHAHA.... Thanks but that's not true...you just can't see all the weeds.... The MINI has been getting more of my attention than the yard work...
Sadly........nothing. Was driving the John Deere all day, but my wife accused me of mowing too fast, so the MINI is rubbing of on all the things I do. Jim
Finally fixed Jack's one-sided sunroof retraction problem. Turned out to be a bad crimp on the drivers side cable - JB Weld FTW! And while I was waiting for the epoxy to set, I installed the Alta CAI I've had for a few months...
A couple of things: - Passed 45,000 miles on my 2010 MCS. :cornut: - Spent Sat & Sun instructing at Streets of Willow. - Yeah, I try to avoid off-roading. I failed to do that yesterday though. I over-cooked it on the blow-pass at Streets of Willow and went off track. :mad2: Unfortunately I did that sideways :nonod: (if you can, go off course straight). Car is fine aside from being covered in dirt/dust inside and out. My track rims have rocks, grass, and other "stuff" in the bead. Got back to the pits under my own power. Swapped for my street tires and just "right seated" students for the rest of the day. Prediction for tomorrow: I will most likely have my MINI vacuumed, washed, and waxed. :ihih:
That is not an off road activity I like.:nonod: I'm glad you didn't trip the car over onto its roof. Considering what happened sounds like you did well. Now sitting in the right seat with a student, that scares me. :eek6:
Naw. No serious rollover risk there. The top soil is loose and the under is fairly hard so you just tend to slide to a stop. I felt the same way until I did some instruction the first time. Most (80-90%) by my guess) students are afraid of the gas pedal. Thats a much easier person to deal with than the guy out to prove something. However even the "macho" jerk can be controlled. You just have to let'em have it. They do something stupid/dangerous you let them know and pull'em back to the hot pits to have a discussion with them. That is a small few folks. Most of those guys don't get instruction because they don't want to be told they are wrong. Heck I had a gal with a C6 Z06 'Vette this weekend. Best student I've had yet. She just need some small tweaks to her line and I had to nudge her to use the skinny one on the right a bit more. She picked-up 5 seconds and was lapping faster than I could in my MINI by the end of the day. That makes me feel good.
The ones that scare me are the ones who think they are the second coming of Fangio. I have a friend who was hurt very badly by such a person. Be careful out there....
I love having an instructor ride with me. I typically pay for one every time I'm at a new track or move up a class. Just seems the best way to improve.
Monday: White Sands, Cloudcroft, National Solar Observatory Tuesday: Valley of Fires, Three Rivers Petroglyph Site Wednesday: Carlsbad Caverns (LOVE THIS PLACE!) - and on the way to the caverns a CEL, partial power to the motor, car is drivable so we get back to "base camp" and then... Today: Drive to Sandia MINI in Albuquerque - it's the high pressure fuel pump and it's covered! Phew! We've seen alot of New Mexico!!!
I lived in Albuquerque for a couple of years and really liked it. NM is a very lovely place. Glad you got your problem solved. Jim
I told my MINI I was greatful for the ease of driving. I'm sick and still have to go to work (Welcome to America). It's amazing the things that become truly diffucult when you are running a fever. Thankfully having an easy drive to and from work isn't one of them. Many thanks to my MINI. :smile5:
Get well Redbeard.... So here's what I did with my MINI today... I saw where Moon Eyes out in California had a big "Old School" car show recently. It piqued my interest, remembering them from the old hot rod days when I was in high school..... So I ordered up one of their 2" Moon Eyes shift knobs. It came with a packet of various size threaded inserts designed to fit American iron, but not the unique MINI stick shift. I contacted Doug Whalen, who was nice enough to make the conversion over to his unique "quick disconnect" adapter. Doug did a super quick turn around with superb machining of the Moon Eyes knob. It now has a prominent place in my MINI, adding a nice splash of color to the interior..... [/IMG] [/IMG]
Redbeard- hope you feel better soon. I too love driving to work every day MM- nice shift knob!!!! Love the yellow! It makes me happy
What did I do with my MINI today? I thought about as I snorkeled with Sea Turtles here on Kauai in Hawaii.....LOL....:cornut:
