Scooter is springy! Actually not springy. Finally got the Koni Sports and Swift Spec R springs installed today. Wow, what an improvement in ride quality, it would appear my MINI shocks were blown out at 44K miles a few of them track miles and mountain twisties. I took the advice of a couple of M/A's respected users and set the yellows pretty much into the soft range, actually 90 degrees toward firm from full soft, I hope that makes sense. Hard on Koni Yellows is 720 degrees. It is like driving a brand new MINI and it is lower too.
I will be picking up a set of Swifts soon for my KW v2's. Today I had my car Inspected & Emission test run. UGH (PA requires a yearly Inspection & Emissions) I passed again. No issues and the car is 6 / 7 years old. My Mods include: RMW Custom tune, 15% pully, DDM Intake, RMW BVH, CAM, Header w/CAT, Milltek cat back, running Sunoco 93 octane and spraying 100% VP M1 Meth via a large jet. The Meth system is made by Howerton Engineering. Thanks for two little 1 1/2 X 3 stickers that cost $80.00 Commonwealth of PA.
Last weekend I repaired the AERO grill, replaced the mounting studs, modified the mirror caps and gas cap. Essentially I removed all the red.
I ordered light shields from MossMini.com They are on sale, 15% off! https://ecommerce.mossmotors.com/p/new-mini/clear-protective-light-shields/102-606 Little Wing watched in wide eyed horror as I restored the severely oxidized headlights of her two Toyota roomies this past weekend. Hopefully the light shields will protect LW from UV damage, as well as protection from rocks and road hazards. I used the 3M kit on the Toyotas and it involved attaching sand paper to hubs' drill and grinding the surface off of the lens. Thanks for the recommendations on the 3M kit. I had already used a RainX kit and a Meguiar's kit and sanded by hand. I got some improvement, but the headlights still looked like they had frosted shades covering them. The 3M kit made them look as good as I think they can get, short of buying new headlights. I finished the lights with a coat of Epic, buffed off with Hydro (an OctaneGuy tip.) I hope that keeping Epic on the lights will prevent further UV damage. I really don't want to have to do the lights over again, but now know the right way to go about it if necessary. The less time spent with the Toyotas the better! :arf:
Washed all the dust & road apple leavings from our Amish road trip off BLU BRIT. Finished with a spritz of Hydro. Cleannnn
That's it? I'm sorry I didn't move to the middle of the country sooner. Texas has been cheap ($65/year ) but the last time I registered in Nevada it cost me $412 for one 1.25in x 0.75in sticker on the plate.:eek6:
That's insane! In Jersey it's like 45.00 bucks for registration but you don't get the sticker, lol. inspection every two years no cost.
Texas with vanity tags ain't so cheap, plus being registered in Denton County TX has extra fees since it is more populated. Cost me $126 last time.
In Pa we have a one time only vanity plate fee of $20.00. Yearly car registration is $36.00. (little sticker on plate) Plus the $85.00 (inspection & emissions) yearly. It's not that bad here.
My MINI is still sitting at the dealer waiting for a part to fix the USB/Aux. jack. They have had the car for a week and are currently waiting for MINI USA to approve the repair. Hopefully I will have the car back by the weekend.
I haven't driven mine in over a week. For some reason, I only need one trip to Lowes in the truck, but it takes six with the MINI. They need to make this cars bigger.:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol: Jim
