Thanks for talking me into the Reds. Much appreciated. :biggrin5:

So far, so good with mine... including my trip to the Dragon last fall.
We'll see how they hold up this week. The R56 calipers make a big difference.

The Dragon eats R53 front pads.

Perhaps you should post this in the "which brake pads do you use?" thread. :ihih: Since EVERYONE uses Reds :frown2: and MiniMark and I are seemingly the only ones using carbotechs. Perhaps we know a thing or two :cornut:
I'm actually surprised you haven't caved in on the RMW brakes yet.

:wink::wink: Yeah so DaveO., I'll overnight express you a set of R56 S calipers/rotors/EBC RedStuff pads such that you can get those bad old R53 brake parts off and move up to R56 brake parts. It the least I can do for a good friend.:lol::lol:

I am really trying to get a picture in my head of how you can burn up a set of EBC reds driving on the Dragon.

Did you get this on video, if you miss a curve where do you land? :ihih:

Was this to the top and back, an 11 minute run? :fingerscrossed:

    Be safe, Dave.

With that, I burnt up a set doing an AutoX at MITM and they were new with minimal break in before the event. Did not separate, but burnt and bubbled/crumbled.

I just installed a belt on my R53. It wasn't exactly FUN, but it was nowhere near the PITA I was expecting. I bought a tensioner tool from Minimark, and it works great.

I have 97K miles and I was expecting the idler pulley and tensioner pulley to be gritty and rough, but they were smooth as silk!

Ok got to post a story about LoLowe. Have had him since late fall last year was doing small pm's. Royal Purple oil, new air filter, Oil filter, STD's, Got the clutch from Helix. Just doing things that needed to be done that was neglected by previous owners. Noticed a faint antifreeze smell after a trip to the VA, checked all the vitals couldn't find any leaks resvoir empty crap filled with pentofrost. thought awesome pressured test, find the leak be hose clamp.. ummm NO Stupid Radiator leaking, and not the pretty violet antifreeze ugly orange crap. So now I get to order a new radiator yippeee.... $200.00 Wifey has a cow then I get another $137.00 for hoses and mounting hardware from ECS tuning she faints dead away, which was funny:lol: So I pull the front off LoLowe to change the Radiator out hehe I get to order more parts now. Going to get the Crank Position o-ring it's not leaking just got alot of junk around it, new belt well if i'm getting a belt might as well get new pulley think i'll get a 17 new wires and plugs too. So I'll do alittle at a time when the Wifey gives me my allowance and or gets tired of not getting to drive the fun car then she will let me order all the parts at once LOL.

Took Scooter to the Lafayette, Colorado Cars and Coffee, it was a full house again, we had some nice MINIs sprinkled among the exotics. :)

Will see if I can cross link a picture or two.

And before I went to the Rockies game last night, I had to go spiff Rocketdog the Countryman, the mid-week snow is killing me.

We still have a bunch of mag-chloride on the roads, we need a three day rain.

RD looks great! Service light is finally on for the front brakes. :) Even though the mileage counter for end of brake life is optimistic (read this as not very accurate).

    Don

    Have a great Sunday.

Here's hoping that the Motive bleeder finds its way back to you. :fingerscrossed: Nice to know there is button reset for that light. I'd have used duct tape.

I stopped by MAG Friday, but I was in the shop truck. I mentioned to Amber that I was getting a "Service" indicator on the tach window... She read my key fob and said it was my brake fluid change interval indicator... Told her I had just been addressing that flush.... She offered to reset it for me the next time I stopped by with the MINI.....

Took me all of 5 seconds to make the reset myself... All is good...
