When the diagnosis is what Sammy is saying it may be time to start looking for a low mileage used turbo. Not being negative...just sayin'. Also, has anyone looked to see if all the tubes and hoses removed during your walnut blasting are tight and/ or not pinched?
:cornut: Picked Margi(08 BRG R56 MCS/JCWm) up from the body shop and brought her home. I need to hire the 6yo next door to show me how to put pictures in this here computer. Boy it's good to have her back. She drives like a car(of mine) is supposed to quick, snappy , and 'right on' and not like a barge on an air mattress on rough seas. Welcome home Margi! Jason
Well, lets don't go there just yet. I was hoping that it was something simple like a vacuum line as well. They did find that the vacuum lines were connected in the wrong order and swapped them. Picked up the car tonight but the MIL came back before I could get home. Took the car back and brought home a CM All4 for the night. No worries. Sam will figure it out.
So as a follow-up to my extended return journey from Vegas the other day, we cleaned the plug and pins on the MAF connection (corroded) and went ahead and replaced the balancer/pulley, as it showed signs of deterioration, and lastly added a new belt... just because. Everything seems sound as before, so far, and hopefully it's "problem solved!"
This is so much today but is over 2 days. Coming home Tuesday eve the cooling fan would not shut off. Now if I had driven hard I could see that running, but this was a sedate drive on the interstate for about 6 miles. Never went above the posted speed, to many construction crews out there. It was not that warm out either, mid 70's. After standing around the car for like 15 min and the fan not going off I disconnected the battery and locked the car. Walking up the steps to the house I had that oh carp moment when I realized I'd not be able to get back into the hatch to reconnect the battery. Called Anson at Best Motor Werks, made arrangements for him to come by after work. Later in the day when telling a friend about this all she offered to come over and snake through the jungle gym of roll bar to reconnect the battery. Spared Anson the visit. Still need to diagnose this intermittent issue. Will call shop later to make appt.
You need a battery disconnect on the bonnet like a race car. Heck you have half a cage in there already.
If I'm remembering correctly, the Gnat is an '06. Unless you have had it removed for some crazy mod, there should be a manual boot release (a pull ring at the end of a Bowden cable) that is under the rear seat bottom cushion (or where that cushion would be if you still had it).
It is still there, under the rear seat delete tray. Just really really hard to get to. Have to fix that. Added to the list of projects now.
I hope it opened for you. I had to use mine awhile back when the hatch would not open in cold weather and it never did click open until the car had warmed up as I was driving around. What a PITA that was...having to load the car thru the front seats....
Picked up my coils and control arms in It. Tonight I pick up the skid plate. This weekend should be the install
Yesterday I picked up my MINI from our local MINI guru Anson. The new JCW suspender kit is stupendous, I mean wow what a difference it made on my high mileage MINI. Today I took the Blu to the local alignment shop. Got a nice custom alignment done. I am a happy old fart!!! I'll be thoroughly testing it out on Ohio back roads tomorrow.
Replaced my radiator fan assembly today, my resistor fix was working fine but for 75.00 for the fan assembly I couldn't resist. Good thing too as the top hose was almost worn though where it was running against fan shroud!
I replaced the rear hatch lift gas supports. Perfect fit. I picked them up from RockAuto. The rear hatch stays up now.
Went to visit mine at the dealer. Trying to get a pesky error for boost problem pinned down. Turbo is making plenty of boost but the car keeps throwing an error.
