Spent the day finishing up the installation of the turbo and down pipe on Silverback. Ran into a coolant leak along the way and several replacement coolant lines later I finally found the culprit: Loose plug on the backside of the cartridge. It was not torqued down and I neglected to check it prior to install. Feels like I have installed this setup 3 times now. Hopefully this is the last. Rest of the day was spent getting the car out of service mode and all back together. Just got back from taking a spin around the corn fields and it seems to be quite the peppy little turbo. Will take it for another spin Friday to make sure all is well. This has been a long project and required help from fellow MoM'ers to get it all figured out. I definitely owe them donuts. Probably beer as well.
Dropped by the dealer and got new wiper blades installed. Even though they're only a few months old, the set from the factory started "skipping" badly across the windshield in low speeds after only a couple of rains. Hopefully, this new set will keep me seeing with an improved outlook in the wet.
took if for a 2 hour spin after changing the oil and rotating the tires. Not sure what engineer thought of the place to put that oil filter but damn it sucks.
Recently, I started a new job, so I went MINI spotting (or stalking) today with my camera. my car. someone elses car. ..and another one. I'm still looking for a new twisty route home.
in the famous last words of Steve Jobs...."and one more thing". Seeing as I have a new job after a couple years of uncertainty over a former employer (a certain film and imaging equipment company) filing for bankruptcy, then being unemployed for almost a year, I finally have my first paycheck in quite awhile. Being unemployed for so long really kills one's self confidence and the MINI community has been around to kind of keep my life in some semblance of balance. So it's time I upgraded my membership and contribute a bit to keep this great site going. Paypal transaction has been sent. :biggrin5:
Washed my car and got it in the garage before a thunderstorm. Yay Put a nice coat of carnauba on the car and buffed it off after dinner.
Beautiful evening for a top-down cruise to Led Robster yesterday. My wife had the seat heater on. I just wore a sweater.
Fitted the tie downs on my Son's trailer for my Classic. Headed to the British Field Meet in Hayward this Sunday. I'd drive it but there's four of us going... I know, it's a 4 seater but I'm not do'n that this time of year.
Actually, did this yesterday. Took GP2 #41 out for a flogging. Sport button on. I'm thinking this car is a performance bargain. Especially considering this car comes standard with an extra set of wheels with winter tires mounted on them.
Changed out the cabin air filters on both MINI's. After a year & a half they were well & truly filthy.
Kept it parked in my driveway while PennDOT laid 5 miles of tiny gravel chippings on the main road out of our development I hope oil or tar does not follow Will wait till the surface is crushed down before I venture out... pac
