On the way to work this morning in the MINI.... Thinking about this weekend... Gotta get away from always thinking about work.... If this saturday is nice... I'm going to surprise the wife and do a MINI road trip to Lebanon Ohio and have lunch at the Golden Lamb restaurant.... Pictures will be taken to prove it.... Going to take old state route 40 for a nice leisurely drive... Restaurant near Cincinnati, Hotel in Lebanon, Meetings and Events - The Golden Lamb
New tires today. Giving the Yokohama YK580 215/45/17 (orange oil) a whirl. Also got a Blue Brit alignment! Thanks Chuck (Crashton)! I'd say the alignment is fantastic, the turn in is so quick... I drove the backroads around my house and it may take some getting used to because I can pretty much dive bomb turns now.
We drove to work and she has sat out in the parking lot being smug. I'm gonna need an alignment once I get this vibration fixed.
So, Today I replaced my belt tensioner unit, a major PITA but got it done(pelican parts has a decent DIY on it but it states 2hrs. project....um that's up for debates took me like twice as long) I also changed the oil in the supercharger snout while I was there. Ordered a WMW tensioner safety stop and polyurethane bushings that I will have to install this weekend, I wasn't smart enough to order them so I would have them for the install.
I had the wmw one and it broke off within a week. Really wouldn't waste money on any stop for that matter. Just check under your hood every so often. I drove for almost two weeks with my tensioner all the way out.
Didn't drive it but I did get some stuff and ordered some stuff too. Got - Spare injector and pigtail to keep on shelf, just in case. Ordered - Clutch and iPad MINI Mount. Rescheduled an appointment to replace the rear sway bushings too. One day I shall lose that clunk.
Actually yesterday, washed Scooter after a nice 180 mile run out to the track and back, I had a couple fun laps on HPR complements of Dr. Falci and Falci Racing. Falci Racing is doing some great work with Craig Hospital in Denver, I will post up a few photos in an album later. We had three MINIs out and a new Z06 Corvette, highly modified for racing and driver enabled. A good day, a great way to de-stress after MITM planning and logistics. Don
Drove my MINI on the back roads up to Mid-Ohio race track for the Indy car races. Passed maybe 2 dozen horse drawn vehicles on my Amish detour. Great day!!!
Washed the MINI and tried some new detailing products..... Prepped for tomorrow. I'll save those details for later
Had to get out for more stress relief this morning. Saw a lot of really great cars at our C&C, the Allard was my pick of the show for today! 52 Allard, 331 Cadillac powered, mild modification to the Caddy eng. One of 45 left from the bunch made in 1952. ALBUM here! Don
What a splendid day it was today... Perfect for a MINI road trip... First off, Metalwife and I, stopped off at Hill's Market downtown on Grant street and had breakfast... Metalwife had crepes and I had creme brulee French toast topped with sliced bananas.... Mine was quite yummy... Took old state route 40 West.... Such a nice relaxing drive as compared to I-70... Pretty much had the road to myself.... Corn out in the field is doing great.... Went through Xenia Ohio and on into Lebanon... Arrived at the Golden Lamb at about 11:30, just in time for their Sunday brunch.... Metalwife had the fried chickin and I had the 100 year old Swiss steak.... Both were delicious..... You don't believe I had the 100 year old Swiss Steak.... Here's proof, right on the menu board... Pic's of the Golden Lamb... On the way back to Columbus, we went through Yellow Springs Ohio... Man what a Hippie town.... Felt like I was back in the 60's... Fully expected to see pot growing in the window boxes... Lots of Tie Dye being worn today.... Most of the women in town were wearing granny dresses and flip flops... What a time warp.... All in all a fantastic day to take a MINI adventure... Oh.... And Metalwife wants to go back to Yellow Springs.... But that will need to wait for another weekend....:ihih:
