I drove to the hardware store & got a 20 pound refill of propane. Hates when the grill conks out with a half done steak sitting on it.
Aborted MINI Trip.... Was all set to make a MINI run out to Urbana Ohio with Metalwoman to hit up Crabill's.... Closed on Sunday.....:mad2: Will plan on making this happen on a future Saturday....
Washed the Countryman and refilled the tank for the 2nd time this weekend. RocketDog had not been washed since the drive down the mountain from MITM, needed some TLC and a bit more dust removal from the off-roading activities of MITM. Second fill was because a Saturday afternoon loop to the South of Denver, then east, then north to come home, dropping off MINI5280 swag to the club secretary that I had been hoarding. All is good now, restocked for the last quarter for MINI5280 swag, MITM closeout stuff is to be offered on the MINI5280 online store, mini5280.org/store/. Click and visit! Scooter goes to the MINI hospital in the morning, a little preventative care, walnut blast and bits, and more. Hope I get a decent loaner. :cornut: Don
Finished the full JCW Suspension install. Also added 19mm rear sway bar, TSW lower control arms and IE fixed camber plates. I didn't realize how bad my old suspension was, what a difference! Now I just need an alignment.
Had some fun on the on ramp tonight coming home from the horse show. Pressed the pedal a little hard and hit 20 PSI of boost with no tune on my JCW. Picture only shows the high water mark on the vacuum gauge. I slowed down to normal speed and grabbed the screenshot.
I drove it! First time in 17 days...man, did I miss it on vacation in the Keys, especially with Minis of every shape and size, too many to count, driving up and down US 1 pac
Today's Loaner... Took Scooter to the MINI dealer for his little tuneup visit. My S/A greeted me with a smile and this statement.... "Was going to give you a Countryman loaner, but you have a Countryman, how about a nice Roadster S in Reef Blue with paddle shifters". Well if you insist I said! My two day loaner, is pretty sweet. Don
The new roadster is a good MINI ride. I enjoyed it top down, this one did not have the wind deflector I understand that helps at freeway speeds. I was pretty wind whipped above 80MPH on the Denver loop, just keeping up with the traffic. The power on this unit was good, it was a 'stock' S, but lively. I did notice a bit of shake in the body on some of the rough areas, but it was tolerable, it is a roadster. All in all, I would own one if I was shopping. On other news, Scooter was a bit carbon'd up, the MINI tech said about a 6 on the 10 scale, but not as bad as he has seen or blasted with fewer miles. So, all good to go, blasted, new everything upper and lower tensioners and bits, new timing chain, all on my own dime (personal sanity insurance).... First thing I noticed on the way home, my mpg went up to 35mpg versus my avergage of 30.6 on the OBD. It finally settled after some spirited driving at 34mpg, I do mean spirited. That alone would make me say folks should do the Walnut Blasting procedure, if you can get a helix deal, go for it or if your MINI dealer is running a special go for it. My job was a 14 hour procedure, which included a full software refresh with the latest and greatest from MINI for the 07 R56, smoothed a couple of things out. Don
Well I drove it to the doctor to have him inspect the shoulder surgery, only to have him suggest I might not yet be ready to drive a stick. He's a great surgeon, but what does he know about my driving ability....? Just kidding Doc!
Got caught in bad rush hour traffic on the way to work this morning and realized there is no gas station anywhere on my normal route between my home and my office. So I took a detour and drove the long (twisty) way to work which had a gas station. Also, (picture to be posted later) my car passed another mileage milestone this morning. I'll edit this post and stick a picture on it tonight after I get home. Okay...editted.
