I drove it down the freeway a couple miles to physical therapy, only to discover a horrible vibration in the right front around 70 or so. It's gotta be the balance, but I won't know till tomorrow morning...
Drove it a little bit yesterday. Not far, just enough to get everything warmed up. Today I'll be getting gas, first time in almost 2 months.
Went for a real nice drive today on what is probably the last 70+ degree sunny Saturday till spring here in Central Ohio.
The MINI got a good washing, some 303 Protectant on the fender flares and the rest of the black plastic trim, and a new tag sticker. My tag mount is FUBARed. The upper left hand screw won't unscrew. The nut embedded in the plastic just spins. Last year, it did the same thing, and I managed to get it apart. I chased the threads and used anti-sieze on the tag screws, but it's locked up again. What a PITA. I gotta get a new tag mount next year when we get new plates.
Gave mine the day off. Took the Hiroshima roadster out for a nice long drive in the country. Won't be many more top down drives before the snow flys.
Replaced the weak, worn out hatch struts with brand new ones. What a difference. Not only does the hatch stay open now it takes some effort to close it. Very easy to do too. Pop off the clips on the old ones to remove them. Pop the new ones in. Would recommend that you connect the body side first, then the hatch side.
That didn't matter in my case as the struts were dead and didn't hold open the hatch at all. I had to use a prop to hold it open while working on the hatch.
Gave it a wash for the first time since we went on the brewery tour. Man was it dirty. Picked up some road tar along the way. Gonna have to work on that a little, but first I have to finish the wash and polish on my daughters rav4. She is home for the weekend shopping at the Quarter horse congress. So while my girls spend my retirement I'm going to have some cold ones and get out the Griots.
MINI stayed parked today. Parade in the neighborhood made getting around with anything but the 2 feet a pain, so walked to parade route and hung out.
Removed original clearbra, stripes and adhesive after 7 years... Polished, amigo'd, installed new clearbra. Gonna run nekked with subtle ghost stripes for a while, I think. :cornut:
I did nothing with my new '14 Roadster S today. I'm in Florida for two weeks. I took delivery last Monday and have only 42 miles on the odometer. That really sucks.
I'm shopping for winter/snow tires for my wife's R53. I have a spare set of 16" wheels. I'm confused, though. Does anyone know the maximum overall tire diameter she can safely use without rubbing [Ex. Is 26.7" too wide?]?
I had'ta plug in the trickle charger on my classic yesterday... And I wanted to take it out for a nice Sunday burn on such a great day! Well, today's a holiday so it's an easy choice... Drive the classic it is!
