Waxed my roof while I was on a conference call today. I love working from home again. My office will move to the garage in the Spring / Summer months.
Drove it to meet with a client, closed the deal. Must of been the MINI, not my mad ecommerce site skills.
Replaced the original OEM 7-year old battery with size Group 47 same type sealed lead-acid battery. Also same brand as OEM I was told. 600 CCA; 75 month. The original battery seemed OK, and I always kept it hooked to a battery desulfating minder. But I'm told 7 years is about the limit, so just for peace of mind, I replaced it. $122.00. Sooner or later I would have had to replace it, and I didn't want to do it somewhere on the road. Battery people said batteries gradually "dissolve" internally with time, and when one of the plates fall out or short out, the battery that seems fine one minute, can suddenly fail. Also replaced the Tranny oil with Amsoil synchro-mesh. Shifting seems a bit more precise. Kind of "clicks" into each gear but still easily and smoothly.
Finally ditched the 16" run flats and got some 17" rims & tires. Direzza 205/45/17. Looks great, huge improvement.
Replaced my rear swaybar poly bushings (worn out after 125k miles of hard driving and probably too little lube) and my rear spring perch rubber pads. Lower pads were almost worn through, figured I'd refresh all these since I'm replacing the fronts which ARE worn through. Chasing various suspension noises, typical for a car with this mileage. Have a new set of perch pads and rubber swaybar bushings for the front, will install those later today or whenever I get around to it..
PittMini sat in the garage staying warm and cozy while I went out and bought a 'winter mini' - a 2008 clubman s!
replaced the belt tensioner. The damper finally failed after I shredded my belt back in September. No more belt slippage.
