Dang it......forgot to post about celebrating the 10th birthday of my MINI a month ago. Oh well, it got a nice spa day that day.....
Moved Scooter forward to get my snowblower out. Light snow so far, 5 inches and growing. Almost finished with my coffee, might go out and puff the driveway or maybe not! Don
Reset the evil TPMS nanny on Skooby. Took the new battery for a drive. Came home & shoveled a couple hundred pounds of slushbergs out of the garage. Blu one is back in the warm garage.
Went for a ride in the sun, found a nice sports bar for lunch, then bought paint at Home Depot. Herself will have me inside painting this week, so Bertie will get a rest.
Yep, got the call from Blake down on campus....."my battery is dead". Original battery in an '05 R53 now replaced with a new one.
Not mine, but a club member's car.... He complained of poor running and a temp gauge that was inop on his 93 Cooper S and since it ran badly he had it towed the 43 miles to my shop. Once in I started by checking for power at the sending unit in the head, finding nothing there I checked continuity in the wire to the cluster and it was good, so I pulled the cluster and removed the temp/fuel gauge combo. On careful inspection I found the wire that feeds the coil had come unsoldered, so a few minutes with the iron and I had her stuck on good again. I also repaired an open in the flex circuit board that fed the tach and instrument lights. Once back in that all worked so it was on to the poor running. Often times finding a problem can be as simple as asking what was done to the car last.....in this case the owner had wired in a set of four driving lights and after tracing the wires I found he'd pulled the power for the relay side of the lights off the hot side of the coil! Ooops...... Removing those wires made the engine run just fine again...imagine that! :biggrin5: I sent him home with a wiring diagram and instructions on how to wire them correctly and since I haven't heard any distress calls, I think he made it home already!
Took mine on a run with Tarheel Mini today. We had great weather and the route was planned very nicely.
Waded through the slush of downtown side-streets to get a little shopping accomplished before the massive chill descends upon us.
Nothing today, maybe a dust off while I watch football today. Honey I really need a TV in the garage.....
Added more dirt to an already filthy Skooby. Bought supplies for the week. The new battery cranks noticeably faster.
Well nothing to either streetable machine today. Lots to the race car though.... June's just around the corner.
Whenever you guys get your travel schedules together for Mid-Ohio let us know. We will plan something to get all of us together while you're here.
That's a great offer, thanks. I believe we are looking at getting back there by Wednesday. Not sure when we can get in the facility though, so that day may flex accordingly. Either way, we'll likely be there through Monday of the race weekend...
Did nothing with MINI today except look out the window and see it is still outside and probably frozen to the road.
Scraped the ice off Skooby's windows. Fired right up. Warming her up now in preparation for a post orifice run.
