Took a nice drive down through the Hocking Hills brought DH back home and washed the road crud from him. A good day!
I changed the serpentine belt today. Good thing I did. The belt was dried out and cracked. Probably about to give out.
Took care of a couple of service items. Did my first brake fluid flush, the first time I'd used my BavAuto pressure bleeder device. Made it darned simple. Drained and refilled the manual trans. At 47k miles, the original oil still looked very serviceable, really about like new. I went with RedLine MTL for the fill, having heard so many recommendations. And then swapped in my summer wheels/tires. Just in time for a winter storm front that's passing through today!
Went to Portland and back freeway going and back roads coming back. Still trying to decide whether to install DT Bypass valve. I looked at a new one at dealer, and it shows light all around the butterfly. Probably the way mine would be. The DT shows no light. But how much boost are we losing? Maybe not much. Car makes 197 WHP with RMW dyno-tune, 15%, CAI, Catback and stock injectors, cam etc. Driveability and mileage are concerns. Want to cure yo-yo that happens at certain times W/O sacrificing mileage and normal driveability. 06 R52, Koni FSD, 15% pulley, CAI, DOS copper intercooler, ATI superdamper, RMW dyno-tuned, Pulstar Spark Plugs, MSD ignition and wires, upper and lower braces, under tower plates, Engine and lower control poly bushings, 22mm rear bar, 18X8 Signature Autobahn rims, Continental DWS 215x40x18. All Amsoil lube and fluids, PS Pump fan covered and ducted.
I have an RMW tune and still get a bit of yoyo at part throttle around 2500-3000 rpm in second gear. I just make sure to be above about 75% throttle while in that range and all is good.
Checked the oil after running some errands today and heard a hissing sound; I look up and see some bubbles coming from the seam of the coolant expansion tank. I guess an aluminum reservoir is in my future?
Dropped it off at the shop for it's pre-MOTD checkup and some other work. New fuel filter, new timing chain and all those parts. Change all fluids and general going over.
Drove the shuttle bus/MINI to Best Motor Werks. Picked up good buddy Nathan & dropped him off at Motoring Alliance world headquarters. Good deed for the day done.
D.B. drove me to work then after we went to look at car toys for a new stereo system... His speakers rattle and the stock stereo will have to go... Found the set up I want for a mere 2k...
Had it put on a tiltbed for a trip to the dealer. Dealer took great care of the car and me and I was on my way in a little over three hours.
Went to Target to stock up on Diet Pepsi to support Herself's habit, then topped up with 93. A MINI ride, but full of smiles none the less!
