↑This seems like the logical fix to me. A pack of plastic plugs would have cost two bucks at the hardware store. For the same price you get a plug and a bottle of booze. That's a win-win too me.
Drove home from the Dragon with two good friends and my son Blake. His first year driving the Dragon and not riding with me. He did great! Once again this past week reminded me why I continue to own a MINI, hang with MINI owners and friends and enjoy what this amazing car does for my mental health. Thank you everyone that made this week another great one!
At my mechanics shop dropping my subframe out, tomorrow will drop the tranny to see if the throw out bearing or the clutch went kaboom :frown2: Looks like we will be ordering two brand new SC's from Cooperke s, amazing price
Installed a vinyl from a small trip to a place called Fontana Village. There was some sort of event that happened there this weekend.
Today I scrubbed of a lot of crap from the front of my car and cleaned it 3 times to get everything off from my bug filled ride back from Fontana. I also got a call from my supervisor and I am going to Cali this Sunday for work for a week.
Maybe I am not sure yet since I am still on vacation until tomorrow at 8 AM when I get the details and book a hotel and flight. Time to abuse another rental car.:ihih:
Nothing to the MINI today. Today was tear apart the Not N MG day. Everything is apart & now I wait for a big brown truck. New rad, hoses, water pumper, seals, tensioner, idler & timing belt. I'm really happy with what I've found. At 87,000 miles the innards of the engine are squeaky clean. Mobil 1 FTW! MiniDave has inspired me to catch up on some long due maintenance.
Not today, but on vendors row Saturday the guys at Helix installed a Craven short shifter and NM shift linkage dust cover. They also did a bunch of coding for convenience stuff. Great work by Helix and thanks to Kellen at Cravenspeed for covering the install cost on my shifter. Oh yeah, almost forgot the cup holder that the folks at MiniFini installed. All around great weekend!
Installed rear pads. Bled a bit (me, not the brakes) removing the brake-wear sensor. Turned the damned BRAKE!!!!! warning light off.
I sat there on a stool, sipping a cold Longboard, contemplating removing the starter from my Classic Mini. There's always tomorrow...
'Installed my roof rack this morning. I don't know what all the hub-bub is all about. 'Took about 15 minutes tops. I also added a bit-o-bling in the form of GB boot letters from Huddersfield Spares. Now, I'm going to wipe it down and take it out for a twisty drive. Hmmm... Del Luz Canyon perhaps.
oil pan leak fixed with a new gasket, steering pump leak fixed, front end alignment, tires rotated and aired up, and the front washer hose unkinked...all on my wife's MCSa. I also gassed it up for her so she can now head to IKEA tomorrow and make the merchants happy, happy, happy!
I have done nothing but clean my car on Monday since getting back from MOTD on Sumday. I also noticed a 1inch crack in my windshield and a small dent in my hood from the rock that hit my car on the PA turn pike. :mad2:
Yanked the starter this morning. In a rather unexpected turn of events, the two bolts that affix the starter to the adapter plate were the cause of my dilemma. One had sheared and off dropping half of it into the bottom of the clutch housing, while the other had lost its nut... The results are two wallowed holes and two screwed up bolts. The starter seems to be otherwise unmolested so that's a bonus. Needless to say, I'll be looking for a new adapter plate and hope to be back in service shortly afterwards.
