Did nothing to mine, but the brown truck with Meotter parts just dropped off a big box of puzzle pieces. Should be paying more attention to my beloved MINI by Monday. :fingerscrossed:
Took the Countryman over to Discount Tire for a free rotate and balance, the 225/50/17 Continental DWS are wearing fast, down to 5/32 all around with about 17K miles. Pretty fast, these are rated 50K. What are other folks seeing for miles on the DWS. They did a fast job and appears to be a fine balance job, but managed to strip a lug and mung up my lug threads in the hub, back on Friday AM, I had a spare factory lug and they are buying a tap and die set so they can fix it. We shall see, if MINI has to fix, it could be expensive for them. Other than that, rained all day, we need it, the Countryman is dirty..... :frown2: And my MCS is staying clean and dry in the garage. Don
As far as I know... Continental doesn't sell them with any kind of a mileage warranty. That being said, I usually get about two winter seasons out of mine (~30k-ish miles) before they start thumping the wear bars and get replaced.
So yesterday I was able to order the new adapter plate for my Classic's starter. What a great bunch of folks at Hi-Torque in LA! They are machining one from a fresh chunk of billet and will have it shipped out by days end... That, my friends, IS customer service!!
Drove to the library book sale and scored 8 books -- cheap. Celebrated with a Tex-Mex lunch. Stayed dry. (Check local listings.)
Moved it forward in the garage to make more room for more roadster parts scattering. Parts started going back on my little roadster today, so with any luck it will be on the road in a day or so. :fingerscrossed:
Been a busy two days, got the lug and lug holein the rotor all reamed out by our local Discount Tires guys, promised me a free rotate for my 07 as a keep me happy. The Countryman has been excellent these past 2 days, so after my son's graduation from Grad School, dinner and picking up our new Golden puppy this morning, it was time to wash the CM. All done, all spiffy and clean, now waiting for the rain, snow and below freezing to stop which happens on Mother's Day. Will be driving the Jeep as needed I guess. Don
Drove it down to my local MINI dealership to wander around a bit. Every sales person that I spoke with had nothing but good things to say about my R53; saying it is the good version and they all love the superchargers. :biggrin5: My first time in a dealership where I could walk around and let them know I was just wandering and they kept wanting to hand me the keys to something. If there wasn't any crazy rain imminent I probably would have taken one of those F56's out for a spin.
Drove it to a date about an hour away and got 43 MPG for the return leg of it! (Maybe it being mostly downhill had something to do with that.) Then masked off the front end and jumped into the last of the front end plastidipping. Thank goodness that rough looking lower metal grate is now black!
Yesterday I stood at my back window and watched it as the torrential downpour and pea-sized hail scoured some of the bugs and accumulated tree sex off.
It's actually kind of a funny story - my MINI is a "leftover" 2013 that was originally destined to go to a dealership in TX, but ended up in Sacramento since Niello didn't have many cars on their lot before the 2014's came in. So from what was explained to me, it was one of the few cars that had pre-tinted rear windows on the lot. I originally had gone to the dealer expecting to possibly order a 2014, but saw this car on the lot and I have to admit I have a special affinity for the ginormous speedometer and am not crazy about the "frowny" look of the '14 MCS. Well, a month after having the car, I noticed the tint blistering. Called Niello, and they were initially confused about where I had my tint done until they realized mine was one of the cars originally meant for Texas. So they set up an appointment for me to have my windows re-tinted by a third party under warranty and the result is MUCH better. I would guess it's about 15-20%? Sorry I can't be more exact. I had my bestie with me when I picked up the car and he inquired about the cost, and was told they charge $150 for the rear windshield. Sorry, that was probably a longer explanation than you anticipated.
