Washed Checkers then started the clean up for the weekend. One coat of Klasse then polish then liquid gold. That should do it.

Took the Mini for a long weekend in the mountains of western NC. Spent a lot of time riding around in the Girlfriends new Mustang convertible. Nice weather for top down cruising. Between that and a trip to the VA today I put right at 1K on the Mini.

WOW Klasse! They made a great acrylic sealant back in the day. I used to use that with Klasse AIO ( All In One )

I did not think they made Liquid Gold anymore either. I thought that went the way of Turtle Wax and Simonize Rain Dance paste waxs.

Do you also have a old can of Liquid Glass in your garage? They still sell that you know....

This kinda sorta goes here. I promised to post a before and after of Penetrol treatment on some of the black trim on Black Top.

Before Penetrol. Grey & streaky. I cleaned it with rubbing alcohol (which was not how Dave.O instructed, he suggested acetone, but I didn't have any on hand.)

This is after 1 coat. (Dave.O calls for 2.) Yes the car is dirty. Taken with a different camera.

And a better image in clearer light.

Many thanks to Dave.O. I'm sold on Penetrol. A 32 ounce can was $9 and I'll use less than an ounce to do all my plastic trim on the car!

    Great looking results

*Note the only reason I suggest pre cleaning the trim with Acetone or Lacquer Thinner is to completely remove any old silicone dressing so Penetrol has a clean surface to bond to. Just like if you were to try painting something with oil on it would not adhere very well if at all.

Nice! What do you use to apply the Penetrol?

    application

Dave recommended an ordinary sponge, one you don't mind tossing. Because once the penetrol dries on it, it's going to be rock hard.

You can use a sponge, old Microfiber or a new wax applicator sponge. just make sure they are clean. Just remember you cannot wash it out of the applicator so you may as well toss it when you are done.

I use old dirty MF towels when I apply it to others cars and just toss them in the trash.

Dave I like to use products I've used before and know how they work. My paint looks as good or maybe better then the day I took delivery.

If you must know what I did with my MINI. I drove it to the Ford dealer and baught a new Ford! I didn't intend to buy a new car. It just kind of happened.
First I told my wife about a Fiesta that would be nice for number 4 child. Then it was like all of a sudden I had a new car. Well not all of a sudden it took hours but some how this car followed me home.

Well at least my youngest daughter is very happy! She turns 16 in September.

    7 cars and counting.
