I bought a "well used" MCS, so my budget went further on this build. I still have wheels & coilovers to install. If I was paying someone else to do the labor I'd ~definitely~ be over budget. Haha.
Aside from my daily drive to and from work (at a glorious 36-40 MPG) I cleaned out enough of the garage to be able to pull Black Top into it for the first time. Probably the first time in years it has been under a roof that wasn't a mechanics' bay. Then I started to jack it up to put it on jack stands using a recently inherited floor jack only to discover that the hydraulic jack has a blown seal. Experiments with several other jacks did not go so well. So now I feel like the plaintiff in "Hole in the Bucket." One of these days I might get the wheels off.
PAC it looks like your dog is looking up at the rack and thinking : " No way in hell I an riding up there for MTTS this year!" :yikes::rolleyes5::lol:
Sounds like you need to go to Harbor Freight and buy their aluminum racing jack. A good jack for a good price.
The MINI slept outside last night.... The MINI garage is getting a makeover.... New apron and sidewalk....
I finally finished sanding my bumper last night. Took off the tale and washed it down to remove a weeks worth of dust. Today will be another wipe down and another tape job for primer weekend. Then more sanding...... Before color
With all this sanding going on maybe we should take up a collection to get you more sandpaper.:lol: This is why I have not redone my hood scoop yet!
Nice little garage you have there MM! Sanding down one little bumper is easy Dave... Since I started the respray on my rusteration I have used 2 rolls of 180 sticky paper, a full 5 gallon of medium reducer, and a gallon of wax and grease remover... Still not close to done, so I had to pick up another 5 gallon can last weekend, and have a sand paper sleeve of assorted grit blocking paper that is starting to wear thin again! Ahh the things we do for the things we love...
Did you notice I made all the workers wear Chili Red shorts..... Because work faster..... Heh... Heh...

Sand paper is cheap and I have all I need. Unlike dick (themodfather) I am going for a perfect Chili Red finish. No rust and patina for me, just perfection. FYI a hood scoop would be easy since it's small you can sand it anywhere. Oh and thanks for the idea I do have a chipped scoop in my closet to could sand and spray and box up.
A trip this morning to the auto parts store because I took the floor jack apart enough to tell that the leak was because the O Ring in the lever piston housing had deteriorated to the point it just looked like dirt in the channel. Also picked up a new driver's windshield wiper and some engine compartment degreaser. So after that fun stuff was purchased, then over to Lowes to grab some mulch and plants off the discount rack. I went light on the mulch as I had never tried hauling bagged mulch in Black Top before. Turns out I could have bought half again as much because six 2 cubic foot bags fit easily. I definitely noticed the car handles a bit differently with ~130 pounds of weight suddenly added to the back! Though the O ring selection included the right size and it even went in pretty easily and seems to have stopped the leak, the jack won't maintain pressure and damn if I can figure out why. It lost some oil in the repair process, so I added more, but that doesn't seem to have made a difference. No more leaks, and cranking makes it raise, but it immediately starts to lower again. I don't see any way to bleed air out if it and besides, if it was an air problem, it wouldn't raise at all, would it?
Wow, industrious folks in this thread. I finally got the Countryman washed and a bit of hydro. Of course it was gas and wash day for the CM. Still waiting on Scooter, perhaps on Sunday. This afternoon, off to the Tanner Gun Shop Denver for a bit of browsing. Looking for a 22 TCM, we shall see. Don
Went for a nice ride in the foothills today on the Moonshine Rally. It was a great day navigating twisty back roads with my wife....she only punched me and screamed "SLOW DOWN" twice this time.
I drove mine on a three hour trip up to Penn State and got 44.6 mpg, but then I have an R-56 with an extra gear.
I pushed the car out of the garage this morning, then pushed it right back in... Decided to take a break from it, and go Jeepin! Got a new dent in the Jeep too!
