HaHa :lol::lol: I read something about this when I first moved to Carolina, it has something to do with the way they ran the serial numbers with the blue plates. Once they put the red out there there were complaints (cops) that the red plates were harder to read at a distance. I guess they didn't do a whole lot of research into this and back to the blue we went.
I drove up Route 33 into the Shenandoah National Forest yesterday. 33 turned out to be by far the curviest road I've taken since I got Black Top. FUN! Though it's also quite steep in places and for the first time I really noticed the small engine of the R50 struggling a bit. I must have pushed things further than they had been in a very long time on this car, because when I pulled into the hotel after all those fun curves, I had a new wheel noise like a card in bike spokes. It's definitely wheel speed related, not engine speed related, and I think it's just something that has come loose and is flapping in the wind and or ticking on the back side of the wheel. Haven't found it yet with a couple quick visual inspections, but neither steering nor braking seem to be affected.
Today was wash Skooby day. Man I'm embareassed I let Skooby get that filthy. Paid for my slackishness today by spending 5 hours cleaning the crud off. Shines like a new penny, but Babs is sure to find a dirt road to drive on or at least a mud puddle.
My hatch door is rust free. Brand new in fact, just got her back from the dealer at zero cost. Somehow that makes it more rust free.
My MINI sat in the garage again. It's really clean and under a cover like it has been for the past two weeks. I am waiting on paint so I can finish my front bumper.
In some miracle of healing, the card in the spokes noise was gone from the front end when I drove home from work yesterday. So something either reseated, or fell off.
I think I still have a MINI. The upside is I'm not piling on the miles. Yep. I'm looking at this as a positive.
Nope, it's gone...... I sold it on Craig's list.... Didn't you see the sign out in the shop where we can sell it after 15 days if not claimed, for "services rendered"....
Today was clean the inside of Skooby day. The whole works even treated the fine Corinthian leather. :ihih:
The MINI took me to the barber..... Getting some of my hairs cut back.... Getting lightness added....
1. Tire advice anybody? Getting ready to replace Cont DWS with Michelin A/S 3. (215x40x18) Any problem with these? 2. Driving to Kalispell Mt. from OR next weekend. 3. Washed, waxed and detailed inside. 4. Since replacing frame brace with TSW X-Brace from Way - Was a good move. Car has less flex than with the old Madness (smaller) brace. 5. Way's Red stuff brake kit works well.
Drove down to the shop at 7:30am.... Woke Nathan up to the sound of my JCW at full song bouncing the melody off the tall buildings in the Short North.... Nathan, Josh and I then proceeded to Tommy's for a scrumptious breakfast.... I had the roast beef hash, potatoes, two eggs and Texas toast.... I'm reporting that Nathan had eggs, toast and turkey sausage.... He said the turkey sausage was especially good.... Not..... And because Nathan is a MOM, he got a gold star for his choice of unsaturated fats.... Well done Nate....
Gave my MINI the day off. Drove the roadster through the Hocking Hills & down to Zaleski State Park. Lunch at the lodge. Finished off with an Ice Cream stop at Wittich's. Mt Zion road was high & dry today. Did a little spooning on the Mink Hollow bridge.
