I've put 70 miles on it since replacing the o2 sensor, resetting the codes and ecu. The ses light hasn't come back on. Maybe I have finally solved the problem. If it does come back on, I'll probably just rip off the tach and toss it out the window. I think I'll give it a good bath tonight and go for a nice spirited drive tomorrow.
I'ma Losing My Nuts.... Took the MINI down to the shop this morning to hook up my OCCII... This version will now collect both outlets on the N-14 valve cover... Capped off the opening on the intake manifold..... Instead of venting to the atmosphere, the draw from both lines is through the OCC and to the cold side of the turbo (like stock). Now, no oil fumes will be drawn directly into the intake valves... In the process of installing the OEM filter housing, I happened to notice one of the 8mm nuts that hold the intake manifold to the head was missing (5 are needed)... Someone back in Oxford musta not torqued the nut properly...:mad5: Fixed now....
Transfered parts from the living room floor to the Mini. Loaded additional parts from storage building to Mini. I have a 0630 appointment Tuesday to get a bunch of work done at my independent Mini specialist. I have the whole day scheduled and he said he can finish all the work in one day. I hope so, because it's a 70 mile drive. Otherwise I'll be sleeping in the car Tuesday night. I'll update on the work done on that night or Wednesday AM.
You missed the "south" part. Euro Motors in Raleigh, NC. They do excellent work for a fair price. Well worth the drive if you are anywhere near there. Members of Tar Heel Mini Motoring Club get a 10% discount too. PM me if you want additional info.
Ah. I had hoped maybe they were in south central VA too. Raleigh is a long way for me. Thanks though! Today I drove to Richmond to see my girlfriend and along the way it almost seemed like an R50 rally. First there was a red one with a white top & hood stripes that started behind me but wanted to do 80 on I-64, then we both passed a pretty metallic blue one in the slow lane. I took advantage of the shady driveway at my GF's to try out the paint pens that came in the mail a week ago, touching up some chips. Also tried buffing out some scratches in the roof that look like they happened when a previous owner took something off a roof rack. Limited success there.
You're right! The blue R50 was even driven by a short haired blonde. Don't know how I missed that it could have been Charlize Theron. Mr. Red didn't hang around long enough to coordinate the heist & the blue lady didn't even notice me waving. As for me being Mr. Statham... well, he's a short guy at only 5'10"! But thanks for the compliment. And of course I only dream about having a personal mechanic/tuner whom I can pay in gold to mod the hell out of Black Top! Right now I'm just waiting for my replacement A pillar covers to get delivered so she'll stop looking like Elvis without sideburns.
Put in the CC'd dash and down tubes. Was planning on a wash but ran out of time. Next project is to put the door panels back together.
