My MINI has just the OE non Harmon Cardboard speakers in the doors, and the standard headunit that plays these things called CD's... I was going to take it all out, but I hear that these "CD's" are going to be replacing iPODs soon...
A good sound system is nice to have. That way you can drown out all the odd noises you'd be obsessing about otherwise.
Yup I had a 91 Honda Civic Si SQ car with 1200 watts and competed in IASCA it really did get old winning every show you went to. Once you have a really nice audio system in a car OEM just won't due. I like to hear the full sound spectrum so I have a few quality parts and only a 10 sub which meets my needs. Amps are so small, powerful and efficient now it's crazy compared to back in the day. Today I have (2) JL Audio HD amps with a total of 1650 wats, Focal front separates, Infinity rear 6x9's and a JL 10 w7 in a small custom side enclosure that takes up less space then my Meth kit. Oh and a full layer of Dynamat to keep the sound I paid for inside my car so I can enjoy it.
My 62 Cheby had a rear speaker & a JC Whitney reverb. Man everyone at the A&W thought it was the coolest.
I made some MDF rings for the doors last night. If I get a chance they will make it in tonight. I'm still debating the Dynamat. The quality isn't so much the issue as having something to listen to. I blew out the originals a few weeks ago. Glad they are coming back, I still use CDs  I havent upgraded to an Ipod but I did get a Sat radio from my daughter, she is taking bets on how long it takes to make it out of the box and into GIR.
Drove it. And test fitted my Necksgen Rev head-and-neck-restraint device. And installed the Necksgen anchors on my helmet. And installed a RAM mount for my iPhone (or a future GoPro) on my roll bar.
Very early assessment is that they're solid. I got a roll cage mount, and the good twist-lock windshield mount. Plus a third-party kydex holder for my phone thag has a RAM mounting ball on it. I like how configurable they are, how many options there are for device attachment, and how solidly they attach and lock in position.
Dynamat / "dynamat type" material is a good investment because it will kill the hollow door sound and improve the sound quality frequency of your new speakers. :ihih: Here are two links for the cheaper stuff which is better than nothing at all. Got home and there was a box from eMiniparts waiting on me! Can anyone guess what I'm taking off my MINI?
You guessed correctly Nathan! I was going to put two pictures up but I'm two stupid to know how. I should of alta done it a long time ago, Metalman. I went by my son at full tilt when he was in his Mustang. He got home and said May car stunk when I went by.
