I'm pretty fortunate. I have my Uncle's WWII 1911 complete with the conversion kit and the field manual with his hand written notes. That 1911 landed with him on D-Day and protected him all the way to Germany. It's in the safe, but I get it out and admire it every now and then.
The 1911-22 is a very cheap Chiappa, the firearm cleaned up very nice, but the really cheap plastic magazine are the culprits, feed problems, so you have to buy new ones every 4 to 6 months. I prefer my Browning Buckmark Micro Bull for target. Nice Colt with the conversion kit. Now back on topic, I did run up to Loveland with the MINI to that nice shop. They had a couple of those KELTEK 12 gauge bull-pup units with the double barrels with toggle switching. Looks futuristic, usage is suspect unless your a LEO. Then I drove Scooter down to Longmont to meet some MINI friends for lunch at a nice diner. Good to catch up, but it rained again. Now I need to de-bug and polish Scooter. Got my MTTS swag bag, since I had to bag the trip, I have good friends, per my lanyard I made it to Memphis. Don
That's how the early mounts fail. Over time, they compress & shrink under engine load that's why MINI revised it to one that leaks.:mad2:
I knew that, but it looked like the "safety strap" was tight on both, thus the question. Thanks Added........ Any chance you could measure the height of the new mount from the frame to the engine bracket after installation for me? I would like to see how it compares to mine.
Took a trip with my wife to Roscoe Village today..... Followed a blue British dude and his chick..... Thanks, Chuck and Bab's...... We had a great time.... Nice groovy ride in the Ohio back country.... Yup.... Close enough... Nice yellar Plymouth... Some good eats....
Finally solved by internal high pitched squeak noise -- aka emergency brake cable rattling in the retainer. disassemble, heat shrink tubing, reassemble, viola. No more squeak.
Today I finally replaced my failed tensioner.. The front rubber bushing was not even on the tensioner. :nonod::lol: So for everyone that is paranoid that they need a belt tensioner stop you don't at all. Just do regular belt maintenance and you will be fine because I drove my car like this for a few weeks with no issues and I don't drive like a granny. I had also ordered a idler pulley just because I was doing the tensioner and belt. It was a good thing I did because that was on its last leg also. I reassembled everything and started her up and all is quiet and smooth again. I decided since it was a nice day I just had to take a run to top off with Shell 93 and get some fuel for my pressure washer. So with the Meth tank topped off I took a very "spirited" run on a some back woods twisty roads and on the way home my exhaust started making an odd low rumble. I pulled into the garage and stuck my fat head under the car and easiley found a leak from the gasket between the CAT and my Milltek. Ugh oh well I have replacement gaskets on the shelf so I will be jacking her up again tomorrow morning and spending some more time with her. :ihih: My wife is working this weekend so it's car time all weekend.
Some friends of mine were looking for a used car. They were going to get a Subaru Impreza. I talked to the Sales manager at a local MINI dealership to see if there was anything within their budget and he said he would see what he could find. Then sent my friends to see him today. His wife called this afternoon. She says Barry drove the car so fast she almost got sick. Then they crunched the numbers and bought a CPO'd 2007 MINI Cooper S. I said...I thought you were only looking at the Cooper.
You did explain about the "quirks" inherent to the R56/N14 didn't you? If not, that suggestion may come back and bite you.:blush2:
