Got in mine this morning & went over to the monthly donut munch with friends. Kicked tires on MINIs & then went for a little 75 mile back road drive to the G&R for a fried baloney samich. Good times, with good friends.
If Toyota would have made the FJ with a solid front axle, and a removable top and doors... There wouldn't be a Jeep in my driveway!
I've been drooling over this: Toyota celebrates 30th anniversary of Land Cruiser 70 with Japan rerelease [w/videos] - Autoblog Wish they would relaunch this worldwide....Perfect company for my old reliable rigid axle LC80.
Yesterday my Lovely Bride and I washed off the crud & grime from our road trip earlier in the week. Degreased it, then Hoovered out the dirt from our hiking stint and put in the foul weather mats. We did such a good job, we waxed it. Now it's got it's fall/winter protective coat and really shines. So, we went out and had a sensible salad for lunch. Since it was such a great day, went for a back roads ride on the Harley, then to the pool for some sun & swim. Back home in time to imbibe my 5:30 Martini (dry, of course.) Finished up with a home made anchovy pizza, bottle of champagne (brut) and screened a 1950's radioactive bug movie. For me, life doesn't get much better than that. At least while on dry land or obeying the law of gravity. :cornut:
Installed a replacement upper JCW grille, yesterday. Then drove home from the folks place in PA today.
Oh yeah I forgot we did that yesterday while I was painting till 7:30 PM. I love how easy it is to install that grill and it looks so good.
Another application of PSS II. Today, Saw a bystander looking at his reflection in the hood, and then walking away and turning around several times to watch his reflection in the door. Many coats of this stuff creates a mirror-like reflection so sharp you could shave. Normally a metallic, even when shiny, gives you a muddy reflection, but gradually sharpens up as you layer many waxes.
Drove the Blu one to the dentist for my 6 month teeth sharpening. The verdict is, see you in 6 months. I win!
Drove it to Holland (Texas) to get a part from an "auto recycler" for my daughter's Mercedes. Got some ideas for future rally routes. Damn fancy salvage yard (inside). Air conditioned, rows of 'salesmen' behind the little windows. They pull the part and bring it to you for inspection. World of difference from what I grew up with ("Bring your own tools and a firearm."). https://www.google.com/maps/@30.8647985,-97.3995492,3a,75y,69.32h,85.86t/data=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1sz_E2LBFKpeMw-KfghNAvsg!2e0?hl=en-US
Had a little run with a Fiat 500 Abarth on my way home from lifting tonight. They are an odd looking car, in my opinion, but the stock exhaust has a nice throaty sound to it. Unfortunately traffic came up right when the road was about to get twisty; it was easy to keep up in a straight line thanks to my pulley.
