Added 320 miles to the odo of the Blu MINI yesterday laying out the course for next years Eric's Riverrun. My MINI is now rally car brown. .
Hope you convinced her to leave it there as a deterrent to other birds. Maybe hang a sign around it's neck like they do with the corpse of bad guys in western movies.
I overhauled a set of four pot calipers from a 94 Mini today, for a KC Club member - I was hurrying to get them done so he could get them installed and bled in time for our classic fun run next weekend, but now that's cancelled so no rush. They're not particularly difficult, but there are some tricks you need to know, and it helps to have the right tools and some air - plus some Girling Rubber Graese! Once all back together I put a coat of paint on them just to keep them looking nice... Cleaning all the parts takes the most time, after cleaning them with solvent to get rid of the grease I clean them again in hot soapy water and wire brush the bleed nipples clean, blow everything out thorughly and use liberal amounts of rubber grease on assembly.
Minidave ---- nice work! Crashton ---- Wow, first a vulture, then you get the MINI all dirty, is it going to stay that way until Spring? :ihih:
Put a poppy on my car to remember our veterans and troops. It's Rememberance Day in Canada on Tuesday. and yes..the car is dirty. Dave.O is welcome to come over and wash her for me. :biggrin5:
Heading to the spray it off wash bay. Don't want to hand wash it with all that SE Ohio grit on the paint. Once a few layers of crud are removed I can hand warsh it.
Had a pleasant drive around town to a couple of used book sales and then brunch out with relatives. Nice outing on a somewhat gray day. (Check local listings.)
Gassed up the R50 after taking the dog for a walk. Now, I'm off to put the snows on the wife's car, as the Polar Vortex is about to make yet another "visit" next week. :nonod:
Changed the oil finally. Man that filter was black! I waited way too long. But she is a happy little mini now. Just needs a bath.
Pressure washed my Jeep, mostly the underside and wheels/tires, to remove the remaining mud from a recent adventure in Kentucky. It is a relative low pressure model pressure washer; something like 1250 psi. The wheels on the MINI aren’t coming clean no matter how I wash or the type of cleaner and the tires had taken on an odd shade of brown/black between washings. With this in mind, when I finished the Jeep, I attacked the wheels and tires on the MINI. At first blush, the wheels seem much cleaner than the regular washing with a brush and cleaner produces and the tires are a nice matte black once again.
Took the spare car out of the garage, it needs to be driven. Put the mini in the garage for a few days. Besides I can't prove it but I am sure the yard gnomes have been joyriding in the MINI at night.
Backed it out of the garage, cleaned the windows and lotioned up the seats. Ordering powerflex lcb's later.
Drove the 07 over to the 10:30 MINI5280 Donuts Meet and Eat in North Glenn, good turnout for a blustery Sunday AM, a few folks took a spirited drive in the low mountains before the meeting. Later took the CM to the dog store to stock up on dog/cat food and goodies. Wow, dog food is getting more expensive in CO, could be it is puppy food. Have a good Sunday nap!
Today I finished day two of playing Twister inside my car reinstalling my headliner. Man I cannot bend and flex like I used too. matter I finished up and everything looked perfect again it was time for a good washing. 2,800 PSI Pressure washer w/ a foam gun = no touch car wash. :cornut: Got soap?
^^^^ yup I pressure was all the big stuff off and the cover it with about 2 inches of foam and let it sit for 5 min. The foam lifts off the rest of the dirt and all I have to do is rise it and use my leaf blower to dry it. The less you touch a dirty car the less scratches and swirl makes you have.
