Ive been trying to take care of that whole "break in" thing today... Havent had a car with less than 20,000 miles on it since I bought the EVO brand new in '05! I did recreate one of my favorite pics of the pre-rust bucket Isobell though... And saw this walk in freezer full of meat in the woods...
Took the wife in HER MCSa to Dayton today to see a musical and drove back in the rain that changed to wet snow, that turned to all snow...ahhhh, NOTHING beats a nice set of Blizzaks! We are on the northern edge of the mess that is swinging thru the southeast. People here really cannot cope with much snow and we are supposed to see 3-5"...a catastrophe around here, but, I'm from northern Ohio and just adore driving in this stuff. Tomorrow, I'm taking the dog out for our walk in a country road accessible park. Can't wait to see how HER 16" Blizzaks run thru it all. If they go even halfway as well as my 15" Blizzaks, then Winter will be an almost Springtime event.
A set of Blizzak's are in the eventual list for the Porkchop, but not any time soon. Still focusing on Isobell.
Fitted my spare set of rims, with Blizzaks, to the M1N1. Snow on the ground, single digit temps tonight, and a 56 mile (one way) commute for 2nd shift.
What is it they say about all good plans often going to waste? I REALLY wanted to take the wife's MCSa with its new, used Blizzaks out this afternoon. Alas, the poor baby was under about 5" of hard packed snow and ice and I could not get the passenger door unfrozen. So, we ended up taking MY MCSa with its own Blizzaks, instead. Piece of cake. I should probably consider putting HER car in the garage, but that would involve my putting the Silk Green R50 outside, and THAT ain't gonna happen as it NEVER ventures outside in snowy and frigid weather! :nonod: soa, I guess HER car will have to stay put and I'll clean it off and warm it up for her if she needs to go out and about. :ihih:
Drove around in Skooby. Now it's two toned brown & salt white. The Blu MINI sleeps in a warm garage all nice & clean.
Drove over to my dads and swapped out wheels/tires for the set of Blizzaks I picked up from craigslist. Snow mode: Engaged!
They are awesome for the shade tree mechanic who can't/doesn't want to fit in a 2 or 4 post lift. Car is high enough to easily work on suspension/brakes and swapping wheels. Only problem is with low-profile cars, ramps are needed to clear the lift to drive on and off.
I sure use the heck out of mine..... Found mine in excellent condition on Craigslist for only $600 - took me three years to find one tho, everyone I called on was already gone or way too much money.
I got an hour and a half free MRI time at the VA today. The mini and I logged 250 miles on the round trip and I filled her up with 93 octane at $2.78 a gallon. It was 12º when I left home at 0430 and of course the TPMS was telling me my tires were flat. I said screw it and ignored the idiot light until I stopped at a Goodyear store on the way home. Added 1PSI all the way around, reset the warning and kept on trucking. Beautiful day for the return leg.
This is the first time the new wheels have been mounted on the Minis. I was regretting the purchase that was made PreMOTD13. Now that I see them on, I am pretty happy. Now I have to bide my time till the runflats wear to replace with reg tires. Big diff as already told by many.
Today (last night) I installed my newly painted black interior parts. Everything was oem light silver (not Chrome) and I painted them a low gloss black. Armrest 2 little cup holders & ashtray lid that is in one cup holder for loose change. Shifter boot ring Tach trim ring Boost trim ring Aquamist / Meth gauge trim ring. (I will try and get pictures after work today) Since it has gotten cold my passenger side door handle & lock was sticking. I took it apart and took the slack out of the cable and lubed the latch and handle. Now it works smooth as butter.
