Shuffled cars around in the driveway, put the NO N MG in the garage. No room for the MINI just yet. Drove around the new hood so my neighbors could hear the burble.
Examined the warped passenger front brake rotor. Inspected the slight mushrooming of the driver's side shock tower. Checked the oil condition. Determined the level of difficulty of installing the IC resonator delete pipe. Lots of planning but no work today.
I waited while the high-pressure power steering line was replaced on my '06 MCS... a $250 part with $300 of labor and fluids, but I'm now ready for my track weekend. While I was waiting, I called Todd at TCE Performance and ordered up some new brake pads for my track fun... going to try the new Wilwood H compound pads when I've got the DOT-R Comps on the car at the track and run my street pads (BP-10) if it's raining and I leave the street tires on. While I was waiting at Autoscope, I got to see lots of eye-candy. They specialize in luxury and high-end exotics...
I met the owner of the Bentley... a mid-30s guy with a thick Russian accent. The combination of the accent and the evil looking car made me think 'Bond villan', so I think I'll not be borrowing his car as a loaner. I might wind up strapped to a table with an industrial laser aimed at my more tender bits, listening to "No Mr. Granger... I don't expect you to pay for the rock chip repair... I expect you to die!" The Porsche looks like it hasn't seen more than 1/10 of a mile since the refurb... Unfortunately for the world, I bet that it will be a trailer queen from now on. I shoulda asked... maybe they woulda let me slum it in the R8! (It was the larger engined V-10 version, of course!)
Like, "Turned over 62,008 miles." "No, 62008.1" "Now it's 68002.2!" "OK, now it's 62,008.3" etc. Dave
