Left my MINI in the warm dry garage & drove Babs salt covered clubster to the eye doc. Eyes are fine & the clubster is a bit saltier.
I drove to the local produce stand and bought 30 lbs of navel oranges, 10 lbs of satsumas, and 20 lbs of apples! And I didn't even have to fold down my back seats... No Scurvy for me.
When I was growing up, my grandmother used to cook up snails regularly. I loved 'em... Yep, I'll try pretty much anything.
Nothing with mine. Took the salty clubster for a grocery store run. Started like a champ! Zoom zoom.... :arf:
Just the thought of running 18s makes my back/wallet hurt. You're obviously not in the northeast with the accompanying excuses for roads.
Safely Mounted Spare Tire In My 2013 MINI Cooper S Not sure if anyone has tried this, but I put one of my OEM wheels in the boot and used a couple of my old compression straps to secure it. It's in there real tight and the lid closes perfectly. I used the four tie-down brackets for the straps. Here's what it looks like with the hatch open... Here's a view from inside of the spare tire uncovered with the hatch closed... My sweet wife gave me a black placemat to cover (hide) the tire and it looks like this... Went for a ride and I can't tell it's even back there. And I really like the sense of security it gives me! I don't have any spare compression straps or placemats, but I have three more black wheels with run flat tires on them if you're interested. They're listed for sale here. (I compared the overall diameter of this 16" spare with my new 17" wheels and there's less than 1/2" difference.)
Looks great. Very good idea tying that down. Can't imagine what havoc it would could cause in a wreck if it was loose.
A good buddy w/ surgical precision hands visited. Talked MINI & showed him my mod stash waiting for downtime. Took his offer to swap in the 5/06 build headunit snagged from ebay for like $50 long ago in place of my 3/02 stock radio/cd. We went the shorter route of unscrewing/pulling loose the speedo dash panel & pulling up the 2 pillars covering the headunit screws. Took 15mins......now, old awesome doesn't seem so old anymore....It finally has aux input! Now waiting for my aux input bluetooth adapter w/ built-in mic for wireless calls & music.Another feel good day. Shallow, I know.
It was below 12 degrees today so I decided to wash my car. I know  but I had to get the salt and crap off. I went to the $5 wash as long as you want place up the street and sprayed everything down really well with the high pressure soap wand. (No Brushes :nonod My car was running the whole time with the heat on full blast so none of the windows froze that bad. It was cool because all the crud lifted off the paint and got stuck in the frozen foamy soap and turned to ice. :cornut: Next I used the rinse cycle to blast all that away and my wax beaded and sheeted water very well but a lot still froze. I drove down the street 1/2 mile and put the MINI ice cube in my garage with one little heater and all my lights and the car defrosted in about 15-20 minutes while I went and topped off my coffee. I came back to the garage and I wiped everything down and put down a nice layer or quick detailer. The MINI is looking good and back in the garage for another week or so all nice and clean.
Good job Dave! That is what I do to keep my MINI clean this time of year. The car wash never seems crowded on the cold days.
Another day of looking at it. Still frozen out there. Cranks, but won't fire. Sunday the deep freeze is allegedly going to lift...
