Pulstar Plug failed on #2. It had been intermittently mis-firing (about 6 times in 10 miles that I could feel) but I couldn't tell which one until it stopped firing completely. So Enerpulse is sending a new set of four. Once I have a flaw-free set, they should last 50K. Enerpulse claims flaw rate of 1 in 250. But I happened to get 1 bad plug out of four. Oh well.
Installed the springy-grippy-thingy I found in the auto salvage yard yesterday. I may go back for the almost new drilled/slotted rotors I saw on the side impact R56-S.
It was sunny and clear here today, but too cold to enjoy any outdoor activities. Fortunately, the heat works in my mini. I went for an enthusiastic 200 mile drive through the foothills. Here's my car at the top of Pilot Mountain.
Like everybody else, I am into a certain amount of aftermarket stuff in pursuit of better performance. The Pulstars are one of those aftermarket items I have found to make higher performance (when they aren't flawed) so, compared to all of the other major after market performance things people do that create problems, this is pretty minor. In other words I get a lot of bang for the buck with virtually no downside. Just have to make sure I get them gapped and installed properly. I have them in my supercharged Buick Park Avenue, as well, and can really tell the difference in throttle response and overall power. In factory tests they produce anywhere from 3-10% more torque and more HP. As you can see, I like supercharged engines - both cars have them. No turbos for me.
I looked at my car in the garage all nice and clean. I too damn cold to go outside let alone drive anywhere with snow, salt and brine everywhere.
I didn't do squat with either car today. My days are spent here, until the job is complete! He's planning to be racing in Primm next weekend...
Put about 50 miles on my S today after the dog and I took our afternoon walk at the park in 10 degree weather. Not as much wind today, but doggy sure liked that heated passenger seat on the way home!
Ripped out the stock hk stereo. Getting ready for a sq build. What's the going rate for a working hk amp??
I have owned my MINI for exactly 10 years to the day. Bought it new. I gave her a wash and wax. :ihih:
Nothing again today. Left it there all cold and snow covered. Uber, free bus and feet get me though the snow and cold. Better for the MINI this way.
Took my working one out on the ice on my way to work, watched the snow melt off of it, and let the wax do its job... The dirt just slid off for the most part.
WOW...that's a long time in between washes and waxes. :arf: You must have a state of the art group of cleaning agents....:ihih:
