Yup those damn things were stuck on with double sided tape with some super strong glue. :incazzato: Good part was I did not burn myself this time.
Perhaps so but time was an issue. I had to drive to New York today and couldn't take the time to pull the head and do it myself. So yeah, drove near 600 miles today in the rain and fog. Fun!
Got the GP aligned on Wednesday, ordered new endlinks for hers, and oil filters for both of ours tonight. I'm ready for spring to arrive.
Went to C&C Lafayette, CO this morning, MINI5280 club meeting and short drive, lots of April fever at the C&C. Three clubs were meeting here before drives or museum visits. Lots of nice iron and exotics, a bunch of MINIs and Mini Classics. Dick's Garage (ModFather) rolled out the Rat Rod, see his build thread. I will post a C&C link later.
Tinted, Waiting for Mirror Covers Not terribly exciting, but got windows tinted today, 35% on rear window and back side windows, 50% on driver and passenger side windows. I think the black tinting ties well with the black roof, wheels and mirrors. Can't wait to receive recently ordered black and grey checkered side view mirrors.
Went down to Helix today and meet up with friends for pre-Dragon BS-ing. We watched Jan RMW Tune the last few powerful MINI's. My friend Bill (Whales) and his 1.8 RMW stroker motor put up a solid 264 WHP with his new ViPec and larger CAM. It will be a beast on the Dragon this year and it was no slouch last year. Good day of FUN and Tuneing at Helix today. Thanks Eric for the pizza lunch.
Yesterday, I drove to HELIX to get a short shifter, new RMW cam, and vipec installed, but mostly to have Jan tune it on the dyno. It was great to see all of the Philly-RMW family members! Special thanks to Jan, Eric and Mike for the hours of great work that they put into my car!
Finished my stereo and went for a ride. Ebrake wouldn't release, pads stuck to rotor. Finally broke free, and left a chunk of pad, stuck to the rotor. Gotta love people that put the cheapest parts they can on a car. Time for new brakes, even though it had new pads and rotors all around before I bought it.
Went to see "Furious 7" at the drive-in last night with fellow MINIs. After the movie was over, my seat back wouldn't release from the almost fully reclined position. So, this morning, I ran out to get the torx bit set needed to remove the seat and got to tearing it apart to rectify the situation. All the welds were still solid. Since there is no real way to disassemble the recline mechanicals... I took the simple machine route and put a stronger bit of leverage in place of the plastic one-way lever. Got it to free itself into a usable state. I'll have watch how far I move that pig in the future... but for now, it's all better. A little stiff adjusting it but it holds once adjusted. I'll call it success....... for now.
I haven't done a thing to my MINI---cause I don't have it yet. But, I did buy tires (Conti DWS), assembled my gauge pod w/ oil pressure and vacuum/ boost gauges, dug out my old "show" bag that contained all my detailing supplies, travel spares, charged up my portable 'battery' w/ tire inflator, and started to re-organize my garage so the MINI will fit in it's new home. I think I am going to buy a new battery before I take "Pepper" on her first road trip. The battery in the car is 10 years old. I am leaning toward an Optima red top. Any suggestions will be appreciated...TIA
