Told the MINI I was sorry as I jumped into the Lincoln.......can't beat heated seats and steering wheel on a day like today
Finally ready to get back to joyrides, noticed my wipers are shot to ****, so they are replaced, as well as oil, cooling system fluids, and a quick wash/detail.
Had a MINI invasion (and a Scube-do) at the shop today. Great time, great friends and great food (thanks Mark and Carol and Jeff)....
Removed the OMP strut brace, reinstalled the VIP engine mount with a new dog bone and sent the JCW strut brace out to be powder coated! Now going outside and giving RDNZL a much needed bath!
Washed the MINI for the first time in a couple of weeks. Nice & clean, all ready for this weeks rain. :frown5:
Started the day by taking my son to breakfast at Cracker Barrel. Changed the oil on Schultze; giving Mobil 1 High-Mileage 10W30 a try. Took a mid-flow sample of the old oil to send off to Blackstone. Removed the WMW/DDM CAI filter that was originally installed in 2007 and installed a new one. NOTE: Yes, I have periodically cleaned & oiled the original CAI filter, but somehow this one became torn/shredded at the neck, so it was time to go! Getting ready to take Schultze to a hand-wash place and then I'm going to lay down a coat of Epic when we get back home.
Heading down to the garage in just a bit to replace the belt tensioner and idler pulley that arrived Friday. No more chattering soon!!!
Looks exactly the same but when i get the old off i'll be able to compare better. Blimey has over 25,000 miles on one so.....half the price too.
To confirm the Gates belt tensioner and the OEM tensioner are in fact the very same tensioner. Both are stamped with a manufacturers name Litens and the same number below this name 765000-1. The damper part is what was failed and the powerflex bushing on one side was completely gone. So for 70-85 bucks you can have the same thing, go Gates.
