I received some inspiration care of Metalman. Changed the oil in Skooby, but did not mow the lawn. Thanks Chuck!
Then say radar detector fer cryin' out loud! Gawddam smart phones! :mad2: makin me play guessin' games an stuff! :incazzato:
Installed new driveshafts, replaced the clamps on the PS hoses to stop leakage, cleaned the air filter, new brake fluid, new tranny fluid.
Was reminded today just how slick wet 60 degree roads are on summer tires. Took it easy and went to see Blazing Saddles at a movie theatre.
Started brake upgrade project - new SS lines, brass guide bushings, new fluid, clean and paint calipers (not red). Probably take another week w/ all the rain and business travel this week. Should be nice when finished.
Well I had one heck of a day! Went on a combo club run between MINI5280, and MINICOW... Lost my front lip to the Rat (just the little added on piece I made from the original S bumper) somewhere along the way... Also went into a flat corner a little hot on cold tires, hit a patch of sand, and ran out of talent... The tail lights said "Ooo ME FIRST!" And I spun it around. No damage, never left the asphalt, and just rode it out, because our runs get "spirited" when we are out and away from other traffic, and we all pay attention to everybody in the group. Gave a wave to the car that was behind (in front depending on your perspective) and continued on. Also almost got stopped at our lunch break (probably for the noise of the exhaust) while giving a ride to R53Junkie (Tristan)... Gave everybody a nice bounce off the rev limiter pulling back into the park, but no lights, and the state trooper just passed by. Glad I could get all of that out of the way before next week! Rear shocks where softened up another click, now the back end isnt as tail happy.
Autocrossed it today. Took 1st in class, always nice to come out of a long winter with some solid pothole dodging skills that translates well to cone dodging. Also ordered an aFe dry filter, OEM hood heat shield, and a spacer for the spare tire I bought for the MOTD trip (needed to fit over the JCW brakes).
Went on a run with MINI5280 and MINICOW. I almost ran out of gas part-way through, had to stop for some, and I didn't catch the rest of the crop until we stopped for lunch. And I was hauling. Haha. I guess that explains Dick's spin. P.S., Isobell is one heckuva car. I love the sound and feel of her. And that cop was stink-eyeing us so hard I was sure there would be lights... Note to anyone wanting a ride at the Dragon: I'm 6' and weigh 160 lbs and I barely fit in his seats.... Those things are crazy skinny....
I've had to really learn how to do this.... I hit one pretty hard, and that jolt has kept me very aware of the rest. Haha. And a MINI GP at an AutoX event? C'mon, give the other guys a chance. Well done, sir.
Unfortunately, the GP gets tossed into DSP for Autocross... which makes it a bit of an underdog. I'm battling with tuned Focus STs and Mazdaspeed3s, and more. It's a fun battle, though.
So Dave, are you seriously saying you would murder a human being if it would not dent your car? Just checking. --Russ
