I read this over the weekend and liked how he approached the topic from both perspectives. http://oppositelock.jalopnik.com/cycling-and-cars-can-mix-1698689680/+nicoleconlan
Ahhh Yeah :lol::lol: I would rather MURDER 100 cyclist then scratch or dent my car. People in Cali really need to understand a joke when they see it. :mad2: Now get your stupid bikes off the road. You don't see me driving on your bike trails and paths to you? I can because my car will fit. :ihih: It's called "Share the Road" but you need to know your place just like on the food chain. I do not get out of the way for bikes or skateboarders or animals because I am higher on the chain. I do pull over or yield for Emergency service vehicles (Ambulances, police, and fire trucks) and big ass Semi's.
I got to finish testing my aero experiment. I made temporary side skirts out of cove base molding and added small vortex generators on the top just tuck under the wing. Last week, on our run, my buddy said I was picking up all kinds of stuff. I was lifting the water off the road as we went over it. I noticed increased stability in the handling, better grip, and reduced air time on the rises. The vortex generators bring the air back down to then reduce the drag. In the rain yesterday, once I was up to speed on the highway my rear window never got wet. It did with just the skirting. Now I'll look for a better looking solution.
Ok I need to see this at the Dragon. Oh one question do they generate enough force to blow cyclist off the road when you pass them at a safe distance?:lol:
Motorcycles and bikes run deep in my family. My Farther rode an Indian and was a car nut. My step dad who was closer than my dad to me owned a Motorcycle shop that also sold Schwinn bicycle. they sold Excelsior, Norton, Ducati, Motor Guzzi, Indian and others most people have not heard of. They Had a close relation with the Schwinn family because of this they were the only ones allowed to sale them in our town. I worked for him and was into bicycles for a short time. Also in high school for a time my only transportation was my motorcycle. So given all this I can say, Dave is only joking, and it doesn't bother me. Good article B.A.D. nail on the head. lets all lighten up. there are a$$'s on both sides You are joking Dave, right? If not let me know I will bring a shovel to the Dragon so you can hide the evidence.
Yes, I was joking and don't worry about that shovel, I have one in the trunk. Today I removed the Backfire Wet Diamond Sealant from my car that I put on yesterday. The finish is like glass and very slick. Maybe later I will remove the Rain-X I put on yesterday also. I have to pace myself because I cannot leave for Fontana until Sunday. :mad2:
Considering trading it in on an appliance for my wife to drive. She's currently driving an suv that is paid for, everything on it actually works and it's inexpensive to maintain, but her daily commute is about 50 miles round trip-mine is 22. My mini currently doesn't have functional air conditioning, the power locks have stopped working, it needs various mounts and bushings replaced and oh yeah, the midlands box has been (occasionally, but increasing in frequency) making a nice crunchy sound above 3k. If I do go through with it, the search for a lower mileage 2005-6 R53 will commence later this year.
Fuel Filter problems! Car won't start! Today and yesterday were both big days for Good ole' Gerty. I changed the fuel filter yesterday and for some reason she wouldn't start, she would turn over but wouldn't start. So I made a few trips to the gas station with a gas tank to fill her up. To no avail she still wouldn't budge. The next morning I opened up the fuel filter compartment again and found the O-ring was just lying around the filter, doing nothing. I deduced that there wasn't enough pressure/suction. I went to my neighborhood Euro Shop (Shout out to Blagoi's International Car Service) and they asked quality questions then eventually landed on 'which filter are you using?' I said Valeo or something and the two mechanics at the counter kindly informed me that aftermarket filters can sometimes be hinkey. Within an hour they had ran out and got me an OEM filter. I put it in and she fired up without hesitation! Now according to the MPG reader I am getting 2.5 mpg better than I was! Cheers!
For some parts like special filters, wheels bearings, coils it's always better use OEM over aftermarket stuff. Glad everything got worked out.
Yep... Never get a "remanufactured (in China)" hub assembly... Once the dash lights come on... They dont go back out!
Removed a few hundred butterflies and grasshopper remains after cruising the Frio and Guadalupe river canyons this weekend.
Sent a hub assembly to some dude in California, and patted myself on the back, as I THINK it's the last thing I need to replace.
Stopped by the shop to check on her and explain what needs to be done to my mechanic before the dragon. He's got his work cut out for him these next few days.
clayed, polished, waxed the R56 (BLACK IS SUCH A PITA !) .....the R60 will get the treatment Friday........
He said it won't be a problem and that he'd get it finished by either tomorrow or Thursday this week and plans on driving it through the weekend while I'm gone to make sure all the bugs are worked out.
