I drove my MCS to my eye doctor today to pick up the glasses I REALLY needed for MOTD. WOW...what a difference...I CAN SEE single cars again! No more double/triple vision! Wooohoooo...life is good!
Well tomorrow MINI Margi gets a new battery. I'm averaging 4 yrs. on batteries which is okay by me. What do y'all think? Jason
Enjoying Columbia tonight, we stopped in at a Brew Pub on our way home from MOTD. Great Garlic Pizza! And no critters to avoid on the road.....
Took it to see the Avengers movie. Yes it's worth seeing. James Spader as Ultron is great. They used his expressions and mannerisms as well as his voice.
Just routine, but turned over to 68,000 miles since new in late March, 2012. Averaged 34 mpg overall since new. Oil change in my garage again, I'm using 7,500 mile intervals, and it doesn't consume oil between changes, pleased about that. It had plugs and a new engine air filter at 60k, per the JCW tuning kit maintenance schedule. I used a carbon-fused cabin air filter again, I need plenty of help with the pipe-smoking habit. Looking forward to MINI on the Mac in August!
4 years with TX heat sounds real good. After having car and cycle batteries die without any symptoms, I now replace them on a preventative basis when they get 4 candles on their cake. (Or earlier if I have a big road trip coming up.)
I don't replace batteries until they are thoroughly dead and I get towed home. Gotta get every last amp outa those suckers!
Starting about 4-5 years old I start checking the resting voltage now and then (fully charged with surface charge removed by a couple minutes with the headlights on). If it's less than about 12.4 V (warm outside) or 12.3 V (cold outside) and winter is approaching, it's time to replace.
Last part sent to Kevin/Jan (Left brake pipe)...There is nothing else to replace or buy. Just needs everything put together!
Took Skooby & Babs for a nice drive out in the country. Great day, stopping here & there. Fried baloney for lunch, apple pie for desert. When we got home I unloaded all the plants Babs had bought. It's planting season at the old folks home.
Prepped the Countryman for a jaunt from Denver to Austin, Texas. I suspect rain going and rain coming back via New Mexico. I will count the MINIs I see, usually only 1 or 2 on the roads down and zero back.
Today I stuck all the stickers from the Dragon to the headliner... They took up a decent chunk, but I need a ton more! I also decrapped the interior, and prepared for pulling the front end apart on Saturday... Also took the Porker out, and remembered what it is like to drive a "normal" car again!
Put my factory seats back in for a short time. Need to send the brackets back out to get reworked... and repair the inside bolster of the passenger side Recaro, that I managed to break towards the end of last week.
