Drove two and a half hours to visit HELIX Motorsports to have a few odds and ends taken care of... My AC is once again functional just in time for summer! In addition to seeing Eric, Mike, Isaiah and Ryan, I also happened to see Mendra, Kathleen and Zack (Zillion). Besides the great company and excellent mechanical aptitude, one benefit of visiting Philly was getting to have a cheesesteak from Dalessandro's! It doesn't get any better!
The only thing I have ever missed about having to work in Philly is the food. It was unbelievable! And the pretzels!!
'Twas a fine day for a visit! Appreciate the quick ride, as well! I've posted up the photos here: http://www.motoringalliance.com/forums/photos-video/24845-motd-reunion-helix-5-14-15-a.html#post321568
Did not drive my MINI today. I had pulled the Cold Air Intake filter out and gave it a wash, let dry and re-oil. While the filter was drying, I went to Vancouver BC's annual All British Field Meet. A lot of nice cars there.
Yesterday I cleaned the inside of my car for a few hours. It was the fist time I cleaned the inside since the Dragon. I wiped down the outside to remove all the pollen and RainX-ed the windows. Taking wife to the airport today and I think I will take a long fun ride home.:ihih:
Friday I finished my friends Mini. Late last night I won my bid for a Alpine IDA-305S with Bluetooth! It should be waiting on me when I get back from my trip. I will be adding a 12 inch sub that I have sitting in the garage. Yes I am copying Dave here but it is a nice stereo, Thanks Dave for the tip. Haven't had time sense the Dragon to touch the Mini so when I get home it will be time for some Mini time.
Yesterday I attended a friend's Lift Party, and we accomplished a lot. Most of the work was on an SRT (steel brake lines, new sway-bar links) but I installed an Alta intake, and on the lift a short-shift adapter. Inspected the underside for suspected suspension issues (found none) and isolated and fixed an annoying rattle. The exhaust heat shield had come loose near the back. Now she makes proper turbo choo-choo noises and shifts much better. Next up, get an alignment done to address that one handling issue that I've got now - right front skips on hard left turns. Might just be the tires I've got on though.
That is quite possibly the worst pic I have ever seen from you... Not because bad photography, but because Ranger. But good call saving the fun car from the not so fun daily drive.
Relaxing on a Sunday after a nice long trip in the Countyman to visit family in Texas and a couple of National Parks. Stayed the last couple of days on the road in Santa Fe, NM to unwind and enjoy some excellent New Mexican food, Rellanos (Hatch Chilies) and great New Mexico green chile salsa. Miles to home: 2375, we even found some 93 in Texas, but 90 in Southern New Mexico. IMO the worst road in the Nation might be the stretch of Hwy 285 Northbound from I10 to Carlsbad, New Mexico. Nothing but oil tank trucks and work trucks with trailers tossing rock for miles and miles. Wife, Pup and Countryman had a blast, washed this Countryman just in time for some rain on Saturday. Let me know in PM if you cannot see the image and want to do so.
I found out about a gas station, only ten miles from my house, that sells ethanol free unleaded 92 octane gasoline. It used to be an "on account only" fleet station, but it is now open to the public. It has credit card readers now. I filled up the MINI
:cornut:On I 8 from Arizona to California I stopped in the middle of the desert to fill up knowing that the highest octane to be had would be 91 octane. WRONG! They had aviation gas with an incredible octane rating of 100 @ $10/gallon. I looked around and no race track, no landing strip, and no fields for crop dusters. STRANGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I filled up with 91 octane to avoid a $120 gas bill. Jason
Yeah, the roads here are brutal. Blowing out the coilovers in the last few months was the last straw. I'll pick the Danger Ranger up on Tuesday - I'm looking forward to having a pickup and a NFG-mobile for going places I'd never take the GP.
Saturday enjoyed some donuts with friends then took my nieces to the train show. Sunday I got some new to me wheels. They need to be painted over the winter but they are lighter and the tires will cheaper 17 vs 18.
