Spent the weekend at Carolina Motorsports Park. Lots of awesome cars there... Oh yeah, mine's pretty awesome too. Got some point-by's... this one from my old dream car... 911 Turbo.
Saturday went out on a "Survivors Run"... only 1st generation MINIs were allowed. Had a damn decent showing too. Including 3 GPs.
I was having some timing chain noise, so this weekend I installed new timing chain guides in the GP. Now I have to drop the oil pan and get the pieces out. Ordered a baffled oil pick up from Jan to install while the pan is off.
More awesomeness from CMP Shelby Cobra GT500. This thing frickin flies. Like the Millennium Falcon going light speed.
Today I said goodbye to my MINI. It was a bitter moment. I had so many good moments in that car and I just hope my next MINI will get here soon.
I finally pulled the trigger on a OBX header and installed it yesterday, using a factory cat that had been cut and rewelded with the ball & socket flange that OBX uses. The modified cat was an impulse purchase almost 2 yrs ago. Combined with the JCW catback, it's a subdued exhaust note at idle and at low RPM. Usable power appears be now at 2500 rpm. I'm happy with the end-results.
I went to the dealer today and picked up my new Areo bumper. Only 4 left in the country. Now I am going to check out a few good local body shops to do the Chili Red part and I will take care of the textured sides and bottom and assembly. Before it goes back on the car it will be covered with XPEL clear paint protection. (Clear vinyl)
So does that mean you will keep the new bumper at home and take the current bumper to the Dragon? Or will you take both with you to the Dragon and just install the old bumper for the donut run?
