I liked that air drill / pump setup..... Someone had their thinkin cap on.... Any idea who makes that mechanical pump? I have all kinds of air tools in the shop.... I'm thinkin that could come in real handy...
DIY using air... You need a hose about two feet long, and a spray nozzle. Drill a hole on top of the bottle, either on the cap or somewhere above the fill line. Drill the hole slightly smaller than the outside diameter of the hose. Force the hose in the hole and push it down to the bottom of the bottle. Drill a second hole on the cap, slightly smaller than the air nozzle. Fire up the compressor. Before attaching the air nozzle to the bottle TURN DOWN THE AIR PRESSURE to about 5-10 psi. Finally get under your car and put the other end of the hose into the fill port, and hit the air.
Didn't actually do this, but my son got t-boned in our clubman. A lady stopped at a 4-way stop intersection, but then drove thru even though there was a car in the way. Nobody hurt except for the cars.. Got some fixing now.
Getting ready for MINIs Take North Carolina next weekend. Changed out the belt, plugs, plug wires and cleaned and charged the air filter. Still up on jacks waiting for the engine mount to come in.
I booked my car in to a friend's shop to have a look and figure out what's causing the thumping noise in the back of my car. The waitlist right now is over two weeks. Here's the shameless plug. Fred's Automotive in Vancouver BC has been in business for over 40years. It is a small family run shop. I went to high school with the one of the owners. They do not advertise and their business is built on word of mouth and loyal customers. They are not the least expensive place to have your car serviced, but they are fair and have never tried to upsell me on stuff I don't need. So back to the topic at hand, other than exhaust, what else is hanging out in the back end of our cars that could cause bumping noises that are not directly connected to the suspension ?
Have you made sure the body is all the way dead. Some times if you don't do the job right they come too and make lots of nose.
Or somebody slipped some nuts down into your gas tank... Undead hooker is the mor likely and easier to fix cause though.
So Saturday I decided to do some painting on the Porker... Love the color, love the look, but the high humidity we have been having here in Colorado this summer caused the tape I was using to bleed through on all the rubber of the beltline trim. So I was going to redo it this weekend along with some other (non MINI) side jobs I have lined up... But the weather is supposed to be nice and mostly dry, so I am taking the Porker for its first camping trip. Its about time to see how it handles light off road fire trail duty. The spot I am taking it to has cell service (bouncing off of Beaver Creek's tower) so I will probably be sending some updates.
