Car was stumbling a bit at idle, changed out the plugs and wires. Went with the NGK BKR6EIX. Idles smooth as silk now.
pulled off the radiator, used a can and a half of brake cleaner on the front of the motor (plus wood scrapers to help loosen up the thickest chunks of oil grime), and once revealed to the light of day again, pulled the CPS sensor and put a nice new blue silicone o-ring on there. Now that I'm that deep into the car, I am kicking myself for not ordering super charger oil. Not going to be that much more work to pull the super charger. Have to see if I can find that GM oil locally or find it on Amazon with fast shipping - the radiator won't go on until late next week when the new support frame arrives.
For Father's Day.... drove the MINI down to the North Market with the wife and had some good eatin at Hot Chicken Takeout.... Some really tasty chicken served there.... They open at 11:00am with a line that starts forming before they open.... They post up the number of chickens that they have for the day (732 for today)... When they run out.... well that's it for the day.... They don't skimp on the servings... The place was packed....:drool
Gave Babs MINI the day off & took Dad's Miata for a country road drive to our favorite ice cream place.
Went out for a nice ride today with the wife and stopped at a few stores and Lowes. Good drive on back roads with lots of twisties and no traffic.
Well I haven't used it yet but the family got me a nano skin pad for detailing the car. Replaces the need for claybar.
I saw a demo of it at a local detail clinic. Seemed easy to use. Need to use s lubricant spray with it. You can use it with orbital or by hand.
I saw the same demo and had a chance to test it. Easy to use and it lasts for about 15 details on a normal size car. Nice gift Jeff!
K&N typhoon intake installed, extensive heat sheilding throughout engine bay, and a half bottle of Seafoam down my pcv pipe. About to go re start after 45 minute soak with Seafoam, and make crazy smoke and noise!
Pictures A lot less smoke and noise than I expected. I need to stretch its legs a little better I think. The underside of the K&N intake pipe is wrapped with same heat shield as the filter top box.
Got the MINI badge cookie cutter to Zach. Now he can make us some MINI donuts next time we go down to visit.
over the weekend, we took a trip from denver, co to copper, leadville, then up independence pass to Snowmass Village, CO just outside Aspen. did final scouting for MINIs In The Mountains | A MINI5280 Event and drove back mostly the same way, with a stop atop the pass at 12,100 feet to take in a great view, and throw some snowballs
Modified my Yakima roof rack. Made it a QUACKkima for the Minis on Top car show, and added a watchdog to prevent duck-stealers!:crazy: pac
