Not mine but my son's girlfriend just picked up this pepper white justa. Dealer replaced the timing chain and a few other things for her. Took it for a quick spin and it rides pretty nice. She is stoked!! Her first MINI.
I wasn't aware either & Anson told me he has replaced a few. He figures it is from running the car low on oil. Check your oil folks! Jeff show them how a dipstick works. Nice MINI.
Went down to the shop this morning.... Cut the grass in the back of the shop and the lot across the street.... Nice morning to get this done.... All the while letting the MINI cool down a little... Removed the BOV and modified it so now it doesn't run the risk of the diaphragm rupturing... The duct tape provided a third hand to keep the radiator overflow tank out of the way while removing the BOV... Was going to put some of this in..... Except no earl filter was available.... Durn
Chuck I always keep a couple of earl filtration units here on the shelf. Ask & one is yours. Nice use of duct tape!
Thanks Chuck, I appreciate the offer... I too keep a few extras on the shelf at the shop.... I grabbed the one and it was for the MB..... I need to pay closer attention to my stock...
This diaphragm assembly (just snaps off) is known to rupture (yellow) and the plastic can crack and small bits can break off and end up where they shouldn't... There is a kit made by the mad boys in Australia that fixes this.... It still uses the coil and remains connected to the ECU, so no thrown codes... Here's the kit... I did the "Make them an offer", and they took it... New GFB Go Fast Bits DV BOV Valve Mini Peugeot Citroen Applications T9352 | eBay Real nice quality part.... The most difficult step in the replacement was getting the three socket head screws removed from the turbo housing (they had locktite on the threads)... Dropped my tools 3 times in the engine compartment... Went together much faster... Then took it for a spin.... No codes...
Took all the belt line trim off my car today and pulled off the crappy Plati dip. Scuffed everything down with a scotch brite and prepped and taped everything off. Sprayed them down with SAE black self etching primer for aluminum, dried and cover them with two coats of SAE trim black. Trim looks so much better now. I also night shaded some front bumper marker lights for the new aero bumper and blacked out a new pair of MINI emblems.
It's just black belt line trim, black markers and black emblems. Nothing really to see because the bumper is not done yet. I will post up pictures when everything is done and assembled.
I'll settle for pictures of the bumper that's getting replaced.... Isn't it the one you painted just before the Dragon? What's wrong with it exactly?
The paint got left behind on the Donut run... I would like to say we were going so fast that the paint peeled off, but the highest speed limit sign I saw was 40...
