Today... I mailed 2 old O2 sensors to Jan, so he can use them to make me O2 extension cables for my new race header.
Not a run flat, I may have also been running it for a day (maybe 2) as I only noticed when I heard a flapping noise on my way to work, the other thing is my pressure sensor never went off to tell me there was a drop when it normally does The white around the rim of the alloy is sealant, the tyres were swapped from the old alloys to the new ones about a week ago? If it's been flat since then I think the crease in the middle of the tyre is from the weight of the car and the road surface, it was on the rear so couldn't see anything that could rub against it?
Cleaned the brake dust off of the wheels. They're open enough to do inside and out with a wet paper towel without taking the wheels off the car.
Today I ordered an new odyssey 1200 battery for my MINI, 6+ year old Optima Red Top is nearing the end of its life.
You will like the Odyssey much more than the Optima... Optima went way down hill about 5-6 years ago.
I saw "today I ordered a new odyssey" For a second I thought you were going to say odyssey van. My hart stopped.I knew the end was near. Dave has ordered a mini van........ I sure was glad it was a battery instead.:lol:
He was just saying over brunch on Sunday, that he was looking to get back into the db drags again and wanted to do it in style.
Drove the R50 today and it has been awhile. The tires need aired up and the windows cleaned for the weekend trip my wife, dog, and I are making Saturday. That Jan tune is working well and I cannot wait for us all to get on the road again. She likes the ride [it has my stock S springs and a 3-hole rear swaybar] and I like the Jan tune, the cai, the Green Stuff pads, and the Helix catback.
Dusted off the R53 (well cleaned the outside properly, actually) after a hellacious wind storm blew tons of uninvited crap into the garage, before I could get the doors closed.
On my way home from work yesterday, a passing R56 MINI flashed his headlights and waved at me. I waved back and kept driving thinking, there's another guy that should join M/A . After I got home, I got a text message from one of the guys in the local MINI club saying..."betcha didn't recognize me". Well, he was wearing shades and driving a different MINI. He now has three MINIs. I think he's going to corner the market on used MINIs.
Drove the Countryman on a 1300+ mile trip, tires are shot, had the CMT down at Schomp MINI today for an oil change, computer showing 2800 miles left before it was due, black sludge, thick and ugly, never again. Going to force the change at 7500 or every 6 months. Since I have extended warranty, noted that the top of engine had an oil spot and film, they found that the valve cover gasket was leaking and the valve cover and gasket gets replaced as a unit. TG, for the extended warrenty, $50 out of pocket MINI silver, retail on this dealer bit, around $500 installed. Pat drove the 07 MINI to her volunteer work, she was really not thrilled other than for the power. Low and tight and bumpy, guess she does love her Countryman. Don
Changed the earl in a friends MINI yesterday. Today Skooby got a thorough cleaning & exterior detail job. Even cleaned the little French engine that lives under the bonnet. Babs is happy I am tuckered out.
Got the DWS Conti's replaced yesterday on the Countryman, went with the DWS 06 Conti's since Discount Tire honors the tread life warranty on Continentals when you buy the same brand. All 4 in 215/55/17 versus what I was running in 225/50/17, out the door for $603 with all the little bit of extras from Discount Tires, full replacement certs. Old DWS burned down to 2mm in 31,034 miles, July 2012 to July 2015. Really not bad considering how both of us drive the CM, aggressive. We shall see if I get at least 35K with 4K rotations. Btw, wife is impressed likes the ride on the new tires, less noise with full tread and a bit more cushion with the 55 versus the 50. Don
With my Duramax down, I loaded my tools in the R53 to go and tend to last minute prepartaions before we pour concrete at my son's house in the morning.
Took Skooby the clubster to the good folks at Discount Tire this morning in & out in under an hour. Balanced the tires along with a rotation. Smooooth...... The Tires are nearing the end of their time on Skooby. In November the Blizzaks go on & next spring some new shoes will be installed.
Heading down to Cars and Coffee in a little while and then down to MiniFini to get a free donut from Goldsmithy. Anyone else going?
