Very Cool! So many reasons to give up a Miata for the options listed! Just a question for ya Chuck; Did you get any sleep after leaving that toy store?
Tell the judge that your old, run down, beaten, rusted out MINI could never get to 55MPH... 87MPH is an impossibility...
Reinstalled X-brace, fixed exhaust squeak, lubed swaybar and control arms. Installed custom Howerton 3 gal meth fuel cell, with stainless braided AN lines.
Last night replaced the resistors, for the aftermarket seats, to make the airbag light go out. Hopefully, the 1 Watt resistors will last a bit longer. Today, replaced the driver's door window regulator and motor. It was the motor that failed... but since I was in there, figured may as well do it all at once and not have to worry about it again for a while. I will give you all a bit of free advice. There is a 5mm hex, albeit a shallow one, in the center of those God awful "sprocket nut" that clamps the glass in place. It is a RPITA to get those bastards out no matter what you try to get in there... but it was much easier tightening them with an Allen key vice the channel lock pliers I used to loosen them. Keep that in mind if you decide to tackle it yourself one day.
Well, it's been an interesting day for sure. Installed a center arm rest in Pepper and went for a 150 mile cruise to test it out. When I got back, I got a message from Russ at MiniFini that the teardrop trailer I got from him has been stolen from his shop in Columbus--BUMMER. Pic's will follow in case any Cols. people happen to see it. It is a LiL Buddy 4tf teardrop trailer with MiniFini on the side. And then. I open a letter and find out that I am a beneficiary under my deceased sister's will. That's a good thing...
Killed it. The roll bar and harnesses saved my bacon. Bump on the head, concussion, some bumps and bruises and such... but I'm lucky, really. I built the car to make this survivable. It worked. This cop is thinking "how the HE77 did he do THAT???" Just a temporary setback. Time to find a new shell and rebuild again. I'm getting good at it. If anyone has a line on a bargain 2005-2008 convertible with a bad motor and/or bad tranny, with a black top... PM me.
Wow, just Wow is all I can say except that glad you're here to post the pic. Good luck with the rebuild.
Skid... ditch... embankment... airborne... upside down... On a road I've driven over 100 times. But perhaps with not quite so much torque.
Damn Paul..........you're apparently taking this a lot better than I would have. So glad to see that you are ok and totally bummed about the GPness. I am very impressed with the strength of the windshield frame as it appears that it is still in very good shape. But on the bright side...( at least for those of us that enjoy living vicariously through your build thread).....now we get to enjoy another build thread!
Same build thread. One post that will say something like "Well, OK, I swapped everything over to the new chassis" and then business as usual.
Hay Paul did you see this? http://www.motoringalliance.com/forums/minis-sale/25620-fs-2005-mini-cooper-convertible-manual.html
Awww man Paul... Sorry to see this... Glad you are OK.... Damn good you had all of that protection installed and in use...
