I took Pepper and went to the 'Cars and Coffee' in Cincinnati, Oh. I was flabbergasted... When I pulled in, I saw the Lamborghini. and then all the Porsches... And when the Lotus showed up...I was impressed. And when my dream car showed up, an original Sunbeam Tiger, I had an orga........ . BUT THEN, when the original Auburn Speedster pulled in, I knew what true LUST was. AND THEN... AND THEN... A 1966 restored MOKE showed up... What can I say...
Went and showed the Rat off... Thought for a little while that I might actually place in the show by the crowds that were always around it... (Think back to the Dragon and X that by a few) In the end no trophy, but I didn't expect it either... Wining a small show is one thing, but when nearly 3500 cars and 10,000 people are in attendance... Well, ! It was a fun time though, so thats all that counts. Here's a couple highlights: Good Times!
Stopped by Helix in Philly a few weeks ago and bought a Hotchkis Sport rear sway bar. Had it shipped since the PA sales tax was higher than shipping. After a couple of weekends spent rallying with the MINI I finally had time this weekend to get it installed.
I took both girls and our dog for a ride to the dog park. We had a great time. I'll be cleaning the interior for at least the next two days.
Drove out to Lincoln University, PA to help an old college roommate move into his new house. Then to Wilmington, DE to see some minor league ball from the Governor's box...
Na... Mine is still all track car underneath, and its going to stay that way! That rat took the trophy for its class, the Jamison bottle as a radiator overflow was a nice touch. That 510 was beautifully done! If I were ever to build a classic car, it would be one of those. I love the old boxy Datsuns!
Oil change! And ordered some new tires to (finally) replace my stock run flats. I was trying to be all frugal and wear them down... When they come in, I'll finally be able to put Monty's new shoes on that I got last Christmas. Hooray!
What kind if tires did you get? I am also waiting for the run flats to wear down before I change them out, I give them a couple more months. I never thought the run flats were bad at all, but they are too expensive to replace with more runflats.
I decided in the end to go with Michelin Premier A/S tires. I was warned that they don't have as much cornering grip as Pilot A/S 3's, but I figure they should be an improvement over my current run-flats. I am not a fan of the run-flats personally due to all the tram-lining I seem to be experiencing. I'm also guessing that cornering grip will improve simply because the sidewall won't be as stiff? In any case, I guess I'll find out. I was pretty happy with my purchase in the end because I got an extra bit of discount. Sometimes I guess it pays to be a girl and bat your eyes a bit. Hehe...
I totally forgot I took this pic yesterday, and it is the most popular pic from the show that I posted on FB! She is a member here... Even with her one post!
Stefanie, I had great luck with the Pilot Sport A/S tires on my old Z3M roadster. I really never drove it in crappy weather but when I got caught they worked great and they worked very well in the dry conditions. I've opted for the Pilot Super Sports for my R53 now and am waiting to get them installed. They're sitting with an increasing stack of parts for a much needed R/R of the suspension... As I'm still waiting for a few key components, I'm looking at winter sometime before anything gets done on it.
Co-worker (upon my recommendation) just drove to work in a brand new MINI Cooper S 5-door. Unfortunately, he was not in position to factory order and then wait for one with manual transmission. He still thinks it's great fun so far. So I sent him instructions on how to use the launch control :biggrin5: (thank-you and a shout out to Motoringfile).
