Couple additions Added a roof rack and blacked out the front end chrome last night The wheels on my old CB7 on the bottom will be blacked out as well and put on the Mini once the factory wheels get shipped from my brothers house
Ditto! I like the silver a lot. IMO completely black wheels can make certain cars look like the corners each got sucked into a little black hole.
I don't understand the penchant for black wheels these days, everything has them from basic sedans to expensive crazy HP cars - to me they look cheap and they always just look dirty......like the owner couldn't afford "good" wheels...... It probably comes from being a boy in the 50's, when cars ran full hubcaps - if you didn't have hubcaps it was because you were too poor or too cheap to buy them. They also just seem to disappear in the wheels wells, you can't really see the style or design.
I think some moon hubcaps with steelies would look cool too! I grew up working on and restoring "old" cars from years 60's thru the 80's. My dad bought old Chevy's mostly and the only time he and I spent together were working on these cars. My first car was a 75' cutlass(was the lame model with the 260) then an 80' Z28 with a 383 Stroker, 4:11's and posi rear with a 4 speed. Loved it. I love the old style, and the new style. I went from muscle to tuner cars. I appreciate all types. BUT on some newer sporty cars some NICE black rims can really create an aggressive look that I just LOVE. Makes me think of races at Road America when I watched those yellow corvettes flying around that track. Love the race car look I spoze
Black wheels on a mini with black tires and the black wheel well trim just causes the wheels to loose definition... Everything disappears in the black hole... The one plus to black wheels... brake dust isn't as noticeable.... However Dark Helmet looks just fabulous...
Okay, here is the story behind the Dark Helmet name. A nice young lady once said that my Coupe reminded her of a car that Darth Vader would drive. I nicely responded that I was more like Rick Moranis in Space Balls than Darth Vader thinking she would laugh and find that appealing......it didn't work. Here's a recent photo taken by Crashton
That car is awesome. I woulda went coupe but needed a back seat for the doggies and the Rick Moranis is hilarious she musta been a young'n
Me no understand. What brand/company(s) are better or recommended? If you do a search for Mini Cooper S performance you get Alta,M7, Pelican, Madness Mini and a few others. Can't help what the interwebs shows me. They look like good quality products. The couple I have are nice. I don't see an issue. Is this something like edelbrock vs holley? Like they're both good, but you'll have dudes on both sides claiming one is superior? :cornut:
Helix or Hotchkiss for control arm/sway bar upgrades. Intakes... pretty much better off staying stock and replacing the filter with a K&N (or similar) filter. Heat shields (if you have a second gen) are completely useless and nothing more than under hood bling. There is a lot of history with these products just not quite working/fitting they way they should. So, while they float right to the top of quick Google searches.... doesn't mean they are the best. Just means they have the right advertising and keywords built into the sites to make that happen.
