I have gotten very bad customer support from Alta. check our sponsor section. these are the guys that support. Detroit Tuned, Helix, RMW, outmotoring, and eMini parts to menchin a few have really supported the mini community. They come to the Dragon and they are helpful both on the phone and here on this forum.

I support them because they support us.

I have an Alta foam air filter and an Access Port. I stopped by Alta's store in Oregon to get the filter and ordered the Access Port from their site. The people in the store were pleasant and very helpfull. Their customer service with the Access Port was excellent.

    I have no complaints.

All I bought from Alta was a drop in foam filter and a shorty antenna. The heat shield thing(the turbo wrap or metal cover over the factory heat shield), I was thinking I needed at first, but upon further review no. I did get this lil tin heat shield for 20 bux which does keep my hood cooler and I stuck on some heat reflector stick on stuff just under the scoop because too much reading lead me to believe my scoop will warp. Helix intercooler is on my radar. I agree with the factory intake. I dont want any of the cold(hot) air intakes on the market. I did find a really nice upgraded JCW looking intake. I'll share the link

That is the ONLY kind of heat shield worth doing, if any at all. You already have my respect for being able to figure that out.

I bought one of those from the dealer - it's a factory part - (the big shield)

Took it back off again because it rattled - I hate rattles!

I put a WMW turbo wrap on my MINI.

It greatly reduces under hood temperatures, increases turbocharger efficiency and keeps the oil line to the turbocharger cooler.

    Yikes! $175?!?!?!

I've never thought my underhood temps were all that bad, even on track days....

I really liked my CAI by AEM. It was a true CAI since it ducted air directly from the hood scoop to the sealed air box. Also had a spiffy heat shield. The first picture is a stock photo and the second is/was my car.

Went to Cars and Coffee. Some nice cars and a decent turnout for as cold as it was. Saw my first Shelby GT350 delivered to the owner just yesterday and driven in from Detroit. [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

I like it but you gotta worry about sucking in water when it rains. On a DD it's impractical. My .02

Seems to be flooding. Yeah, it's not been the best day.

Thanks to Carol for the charger rescue. Oh and we went over the proof too. Calendar off to print this coming week.

Took my driver's side Mitsubishi Recaro out to replace the back support last week. Replaced it with a brand new piece today.

Also, I added the stand-offs on the front end to give the base a bit more of an incline. Much more gooder.

Also helped out WolfGTI to replace his passenger side window regulator. His $#!+ the proverbial bed.

That sucks, is an understatement! Sorry to see Gnat riding the back side of that flatbed Nathan, but I'm sure it's gotta be something simple.
