I see it as win/win, I'm not set up to do paint work and he's not set up to do heavy mechanical stuff. Each according to their strengths....the car came with a new clutch in the box, all I have to do is install it. I'm going to try and do this one in the car rather than pull the engine - if I can.
Depending where you are, if you're in, say, Canada or the Pacific Northwest, that would be a great road trip. Happy motoring.
Cousins in town with their Countryman for the week! Went out to Colorado Clays in Brighton today, a perfect day! Had a great time!!!
Picked up a now running Gnat from Best Motor Werks. Bad MAP sensor was the issue. Degree of difficulty, diagnosing issue with codes from ViPec. Thanks Jan, without your assistance we'd of not figured that one out.
Those are some bright stripes on Pepper White, not many people go bright on light colors, but this looks GOOD! Now you just need matching mirrors.
Thanks, I know most don't but I like to be original and have a look no one else has! The rear and beltline is being done next week
Myself and a bunch of fellow Atlanta Mini's went over to Barber on Sunday for some laps and a lil twisty back country roads
One of my favorite tracks. Did the Porsche school there a couple of years ago. The motorcycle museum is fantastic.
Got the rusty red Clubby up on the lift - wasn't easy tho, there was very little sheet metal left in the sills, floor or A panels to lift on, and the rear front subframe mounts were broken too. There also were no bolts in the front subframe mounts, so I scrounged up some 1/2" bolts and snugged that end down. With a judicious application of boards to spread the load, she lifted without making any bad noises, and I got the clutch out today. Tomorrow I'll do some cleanup and put it back together and see if it runs! This is the first classic Mini clutch I've done with the engine in the car, I usually just pull the motor first but I have to say it wasn't too bad....a later model Verto clutch would be even easier......
Back home after 5 days on the road visiting family in St. Louis and friends in Kansas City, I think I totaled over 30 hours behind the wheel of my MINI. The car may be a teenager now, but it gave me no problems at all - it ran like a champ. For a lot of the trip I was off the interstates onto the back roads - you get a different perspective doing that. Plus, I found some great driving roads - I might post a video later.
